But maybe it's a politics thing; they all seem to be doing this, and certainly there's no group more vain or self-important. Shaq at least has some demonstrable ability. I read today, for instance, that Gavin Newsom (mayor of San Francisco) announced his gubernatorial campaign via Twitter; he fits my description perfectly.

It might be a "grown-up thing" in that I'm grumpy about it, but the truth is I'm probably no more grumpy at almost 36 than I was at 20. Maybe a lot less, in fact.

But in theory I can see why people would go on Facebook and how it could be fun and/or useful. Twitter is just totally beyond me, which I guess is a generational thing.

FWIW, Todd Zolecki via Twitter has the timeliest "news bulletins" out there relating to the Phillies. For instance, he was the first to report Harry's death last week...

But as for following personal/vanity Twitter feeds? Forget it.

there was a chinese grocery store near our last apartment that advertised cigarettes: "MABOROS $4.99"

someone probably went in and told them they were missing a couple of letters... next day: "MARBOROS $4.99"
