Yeah. He went from the Wilmington News Journal to the Boston Globe. You would have, too.

I'm told that Phillies would not insist on Swihart to make deal for Hamels

Then says he thinks Betts is the key

Who the fuck writes this shit? This makes that vomit spill from Fangraphs look like the love child of Joe Posnanski and Bill James. Just utterly unconnected from reality, which is that unless they get a really strong package, they keep him.

Gelb says he's hearing the Dodgers are a better trade partner for Hamels

Unfortunately, Rube can't figure out why Ned Colletti isn't returning his calls

I feel like we're going to trade Cole Hamels for pennies on the dollar and that just really chaps my ass.

It sure seems they are.

If the Dodgers want a SP, all they have to do is to go into the FA market and sign one. So, unless you want to wait for the FA market to play out, you've got to offer the Dodgers something they can't get in the FA market, i.e., Ruiz and/or Rollins. We know they were looking for a catcher when they tried to get Montero and it seems they're looking for a SS, too, so the Phils match up very well with their needs.

If you're willing to give the Dodgers their Christmas list in one stop, you can get better prospects, especially if the Phils are willing to take Ethier back in the trade, which I think they should be willing to do. The D-backs wanted him, but ownership wouldn't let them trade Montero, but the Phils should be able to flip him to AZ since we don't need to get back Montero. And, since you'd be offloading somewhere between $32MM-$44MM in AAV on the Dodgers, you could afford to chip in some money to AZ with Ethier to get better value back from them.

I like the Red Sox' and Cubs' prospects better than the Dodgers, but the Dodgers are a much better fit.
