Would it bring Kemp and one of their top prospects?

Kemp makes no sense for the Phils. I'm guessing you'd want Amaro to flip him, but do you really trust him to do that?

Yeh, definitely flip him. The OF market seems weak and several contenders are looking. I don't trust Amaro to do it, but I'm just wondering what our assets are worth. Plus, it's fun to talk about trades. We should be talking more about potential trades, imho. Hope springs eternal, you know.

In order to get better prospects you take Ethier. You can then flip him to the D-Backs who want him but their ownership doesn't want to give up Montero. That's OK for Phils since they don't need Montero. You ship him plus some cash and get so-so prospects, which you accept as part of the price of getting better prospects for Hamels and Ruiz.

Don't trust that Rube would even put all the pieces together, let alone get it done, but it's right there in front of him, even if it's just Hamels and Ruiz.

What if Utley went too? Would the Dodgers want all that? would we be willing to basically gut the team and push reset on all the memories? What could we get back?

I think they're pretty happy with Dee Gordon now, aren't they?

Between Gordon and Alex Guerrero, I doubt they are considering acquiring a 2b.

Joel Sherman of NY Post says on Twitter there were 2 reasons Frenchy picked the Phillies:

1. Manuel promised to work with him to rekindle his career

2. Byrd will probably be dealt

Jeff Francoeur will be the opening day starter in right field for the Phillies. Book it.

Would bet serious money that he gets 300+ PA for the Phils. And that he is every bit as terrible as he as always been.

Has been worth -2.2 fWAR in last 3300 PA, which includes a 2.5 win 2011. This is how you build a winner.

Gordon Edes ‏@GordonEdes 7m7 minutes ago

I'm told that Phillies would not insist on Swihart to make deal for Hamels

Scott Lauber ‏@ScottLauber 10m10 minutes ago

Phillies haven't identified any one player as "must-have" from #RedSox. But they'll need players from group of top prospects to move Hamels
