Philly the Kid wrote:How many believe that the majority of votes will be counted and accurately, and that no one will be dis-enfranchised?

But let's assume it's all legit. No state limits anyone's right to vote, and no machines are rigged and all the votes are counted properly and fairly, or to where the margin of error for human f'ups is neglible to outcome.

Tell me where we are as a nation in 4 years with either of these two?

-- Trump is a wild-card and we will see god knows what - with policies, cabinet, and I'm not sure he's really got the commitment to really work the job. He likes to make sound bytes and meme fodder. All those angry white guys out there in the heartland and south - aren't going to be any better off in 4 years.

-- Shillary is Wall Street and Hawkish policies and business-as-usual. The Congress will remain obstructionist, and she won't be able to get much done. Because she will curry favor for the .01% the Monsanto/Bayer merger and it's like will continue unabated. Fracking will continue. TarSands, Dakota Piplines, TPP will find its way back, and endless war will continue on.

With both, Executive Order abuse, massive surveillance and secrecy agencies will go unfettered, and we will be using more drones than ever. Prisons will remain crowded. Health care will get more expensive and less good jobs with benefits and no reversals on patriot act or citizen's united. If Trump gets in, I guess Roe v Wade could even topple. Not sure the fall-out there?

The argument of most moderate Dems, and Hillary fans - is that "don't be a fool a vote for Jill Stein or any 3rd party" it's the Nader effect, a useless protest vote that will accomplish nothing except to let Trump a totally corrupt money guy - who has constructed an identity to get the Rush Limbaugh crowd to vote for him - and he could spark a true proto-facism, or he could just be a big mess or it could backfire and light some movement post-Bern from Millenials and old liberals and the remaining union and labor and academics -- but I don't see that coming about.

I think Trump would have a hard time winning two terms back-to-back even if he wins legit, of course if its rigged, who knows. I'm not sure who's bidding he's doing? But I'm sure they can shape and mold him as needed.

The American populace is so naive to think that "Presidents" operate with any autonomy.

It's really and truly a sad state of affairs when these are the only 2 choices we have.

The planet is growing warmer by the day. We've tipped. By 2050 but surely by 2100 sea levels will be up 7-8-9 feet, and the methane and carbon release. It's going to soon be about resources, clean air, clean water, non-toxic food, medicine, and martial law may be coming when it finally becomes impossible to feep up the facade of "nation state". There are more guns than people. It's a fragile thread that keeps us from not becoming a fractured land.

The big money knows that their profits go down if things go renegade. So we keep up the illusion of "the trains running on time" so that people will keep going to shop at the mall and buy stuff and accrue debt.

But I just can't see better nation in 4 years with either of these two. it's truly depressing.

the Drumpf Erroneous Reset Period of our political history needs to be repudiated. drumpf must not merely be defeated; he and everything about him - his awful family, his delusional "ideas", his numerous frauds & scams - must be expunged.

Why?

Imagine his behavior in the face of even "only" a modest rout; he's' sure to refuse to concede, sure to humiliate his disgusting family - to say nothing of the remains of the Republican party - in a ridiculous challenge of the election results. He's already signaled his likely tantrum. I hope (oxymoron alert) Republican leadership is prepared to put a foot up punkinhead's flaccid ass within hours of polls closing

My preference would be for some sort of physical humiliation in the public square - some sort of communal Two Minutes Hate denigration of every aspect of his repulsive being - but this is America, so we'll probably just quickly forget he ever existed, which be the best resolution after all.

Do you think Putin will be going to The Miss Universe Pageant in November in Moscow - if so, will he become my new best friend?

This HuffPo piece amazingly appears to be real:

Mike Pence Opposes Word ‘Vice’ On Religious Grounds, Doesn’t Want To Be Called Vice Presidential Candidate

while the veep candidate's objection to being referred to as vice presidential material may be tongue-in-cheek, I feel like this bit should be getting more attention than it has:

HuffPo wrote:Pence was asked during his press conference if he condemned the word “vice” on Christian principles, why then didn’t he condemn the Ku Klux Klan, a white supremacist organization, that openly participates in immoral and wicked behavior?

“I would,” he answered. “But if we start criticizing deplorables, we run the risk of losing half our voters.”

his dry humor is probably way over the head of most Rs, but still

Anyway, he should actually straight answer the fucking question

A reporter reminded the Indiana governor that he cut tens of thousands of Hoosiers off food stamps in 2014, saying it would be “ennobling” for poor people.

“The Bible says that the Lord helps those who help themselves,” Pence responded.

“But governor,” the reporter responded, “that phrase is not in the Bible.”

“Never mind,” Pence responded, “it’s in the Republican Bible.”

lol

if only Pence were a genius media manipulation wizard like his running mate - he'd come up with a clever retort like "get him out!", or "punch him right in the face!"

but it takes someone really clever to be a masterful media manipulator. Only someone obviously smart can do that

Kasich allows as to how drumpf needs to apologize to Obama

Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) said in an interview broadcast Sunday that he thinks Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump should apologize to President Obama for questioning his citizenship.

"You know, yeah," the Ohio governor told NBC's "Meet the Press" when asked if Trump owes the president an apology.

Classic Kasich phrasing

Wake me when Portman says the same

Very interesting - NYT launching a poll that uses the voter file - Introducing the New York Times Upshot/Siena College Poll

Nice explanation of the differences between this (which is what campaigns do), and typical media polls.

Well I hate to be the one to tell you this, but Trump is going to win, so get ready.

Clinton is just so bad at this. I can't get over that "basket of delporables" comment, in the election cycle IMMEDIATELY folowing the "47%" comment. It's like she's mentally disabled.
"I'm in a bar with the games sound turned off and that Cespedes home run still sounded like inevitability."
