Paris Prosecutor: Hostages gathered near or on the stage and executed.
On a scale of 1 to Chris Brown, how pissed is he?

This is one of our long weekends, so we had a ton of students in Paris. None of our students were hurt or anything. They sent a bus to pick all of them up.

I'm in Berlin. I flew out yesterday afternoon and there was a lot of security in Geneva, which usually isn't the case. I have to wonder if they expected something. I had my hands and computer tested for explosives, something that's never happened there.

The French President attending the soccer game screwed that plan up. Good fortune.

It would be kinda nice to know a lot more about Isis. Instead of the nonsense that is 95.4 percent of what is on TV, I'd like to see a comprehensive story about Isis. Who are they? Where are they? Could a well equipped military force tear them a new asshole?

Without knowing any of this, we're reduced to the low information types calling all Muslims evil, Christian killers. These folks quote the Koran without understanding it at all.

We could use some good reporting regarding Isis and the Muslim religion.

Article from The Atlantic from earlier this year was really interesting and informative about ISIS - their religious beliefs, goals, etc.

Think there's a UN Security Council meeting there this weekend. John Kerry among other foreign bigwigs in town.

Think I just need to not check social media for a week or so. The number of "you don't care about brown people, why are you sad about France" posts are getting to me.

I think humans are complex and can be sad about multiple things at the same time. Also, maybe happy about some things while also sad.

No I think we need to mourn every needless death equally minute by minute
you sure do seem to have a lot of time on your hands to be on this forum? Do you have a job? Are you a shut-in?

The whole "Why didn't we mourn for Lebanon" thing is a weird critique to me. Obviously the point trying to be made is that we only care when it's white people, but there are other components there that are just being glossed over. I care about France more because we have very real connections to French culture. Obviously we have a long history with France being an ally of ours. It's just horseshit to automatically turn it into this "where were you all when Lebanon happened" racist critique. France is closer to home for myriad reasons.

I got as far as this subhead, specifically sentence 2:

The Islamic State is no mere collection of psychopaths. It is a religious group with carefully considered beliefs, among them that it is a key agent of the coming apocalypse.

A belief that you are "a key agent of the coming apocalypse" is not "carefully considered". QED
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

Since it's a slow news day, MSNBC has had on a reactionary congresswoman from that hotbed of careful consideration, Indiana, Bubba's token neocon CIA head James Woolsey, and earlier covered Jeff Duncan's foreign policy wisdom.

one day after the Paris tragedy and there are 2 congresspersons whose faces I'd like to collide hard enough for to quarks shoot out of them

You didn't like it the last time I posted it either. Points for consistency.
