From some sources, the rich pay More than their share.

http://www.economics21.org/commentary/r ... -2015-1-09

that's an interesting way he presents both the figures and the debate around taxes.

Here's another:

http://money.cnn.com/2013/03/12/news/ec ... ich-taxes/

you are presenting links to things that don't show what they purport to show. saying the 'rich' pay the majority of taxes and thus it's fine is not how I am looking at it. And it's certainly not how MOST voters look at it, regardless of party. the top of the rich move money around and are able to bypass the federal income tax for the most part. plenty of people making millions of dollars pay taxes, but they also could be paying more in tax (and can certainly afford it) if we took out various loopholes. The tax rates also only start increasing once you reach that threshold; everyone is taxed the same in every bracket before loopholes get some people's income out of certain brackets. the income that reaches a certain threshold is taxed at a higher rate, not the person in general.

rich people are doing fine. wealthy people are doing even better. people proposing a flat tax system want to help the rich and wealthy keep more of their money in order to starve the government of funds. that's fine to hold that position. but this is what it's about.

i'm fine holding the position that i would tax rich people even more.

Look. People think rich people don't pay enough taxes. They pay a helluva lot more than you or me. I'm not rich. I don't feel overly taxed at the Federal level. They don't pay all that they possibly could. But they still may much more than us (except for Trent).

I lived in Europe. Those folks pay tons of taxes and fees to pay for all the social programs. They have an extremely regressive Value Added tax.. Except for the rich people who hide a bunch of dough in Switzerland and stuff.

This was in the eighties. Things may have changed a lot but I don't think so. The experience did shape some of my taxation views though.

Should have started that policy a few hundred years ago. Then we'd be really cooking. With gas.

Zeke Miller @ZekeJMiller
Hillary suggests GOP would support using "boxcars" to remove 11 million in U.S. illegally

Yesterday the terrorist comparison. Today a Nazi allusion. Wonder what tomorrow will bring.

I mean, it's one scenario where it's actually somewhat parallel. what other historical examples of mass forced exodus would be more preferable allusions?

The Obama admin has deported over 2 million illegal immigrants. Does he use box cars? Probably not.

families are kept in detention centers for months on end. it's a generally horrible practice in application, deportation.

I think the problem is the so called tolerant right has created a culture of faux-outrage.

I'm glad to see Hillary calling out the Republicans for acting like terrorists and Nazis.

The idea that we're going to deport all of the people living here illegally is unworkable and bad public policy, and the candidates who advocate for it deserve to be called out on it. But no one is saying it will happen all at once. And the Nazi allusion is over the top nonsense.

That's not what Trump is saying. Your top candidate for President.

overruled. out of any reference to Nazi policy I've ever heard this is the closest parallel. I'll allow it. your whine has been denied.

Neither of your sentences make sense in reply to any of the sentences I wrote.

JH is either ignoring the fact (or didn't hear it) that Trump himself during an interview, when asked how he will get rid of the illegal immigrants plus their American-born children, said that he will allow cops in every city to do their job.

It makes for good TV but this sort of rhetoric is problematic and it will only lead to violence. We've already seen two idiots in Boston beating up a Latino homeless man in response to what Trump has said about immigrants.

She could have made the point without making a Nazi reference. This isn't some dumbass former baseball player it's a presidential candidate. Either way the issue with referencing the Nazis using the boxcars were less the boxcars themselves but where the boxcars were going.
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

I don't have a problem when politicians call a spade a spade. You talk like a Nazi, you should get called out. I do have a problem however when they bring up the Nazi thing for things like the Iran deal in order to cater to their base.

It definitely wasn't the most PC comment, but this wouldn't even crack the top 10 of offensive statements uttered by the Rs. So please spare me any outrage coming from anyone who plans to vote for any of them.
