Three years before I proposed. We'd been living together for about half that time, and gone through at least two relationship near-death experiences, so I'd satisfied myself that it was durable.

Just last week she was telling me how worried she is that dude wants a kid right away and she's nowhere near ready for that and, moreover, that she might have just said yes because she's a pushover. I'm not really sure she's perfect for him either, but at 42 he's pretty suiced to have a good looking twenty-something and isn't going to let go. I'm friends with both of them, just think it's maybe a disaster waiting to blow up.

I think you're right. This probably does have disaster written all over it.

How long before the wedding?

Two months. I don't really feel like it's my place to do anything, but I'm gonna try to have a drink with her next week and just maybe do some thinking for her and try get her to make sure she's sure.

I bet if you sleep with her, that might put the kibosh on the wedding.

John Hughes made a living because of these type situations

Now he's dead

is being ranked 8 out of 33 good? because "top 10" sounds good, but not when it's only 33 people.

The age difference Housh cites seems about standard for a Pittsburgh wedding, in my personal experience.

Ha.

My wife and I were driving out to Chicago and stopped to eat in a small town an hour or so north of Pittsburgh. My wife ordered a salad and asked what was on it. "Um, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, peppers..." "Is there anything else on it?" my wife asked. "No," waitress said.

She was then served a salad covered in french fries.

And they were delicious.

I met the wife in '04, started dating her in May of '05, proposed in December of '07, married in August of '08. One year anniversary is Sunday.

I'm planning on dumping her as my anniversary gift.

It's never necessary to be the best. Just never be the worst. This advice has worked well over the years. 8 of 33 is just fine unless the other 32 are all doofuses (doofi?).
Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

Hell son -- you're doing just fine. Unless you're one of those pain in the rear over achiever types who has to be first at everything. Those guys don't make out so good in the long run anyways.
