It's not even for me, really. She's 29, the groom is 42. Just last week she was telling me how worried she is that dude wants a kid right away and she's nowhere near ready for that and, moreover, that she might have just said yes because she's a pushover. I'm not really sure she's perfect for him either, but at 42 he's pretty suiced to have a good looking twenty-something and isn't going to let go. I'm friends with both of them, just think it's maybe a disaster waiting to blow up.

I think you're right. This probably does have disaster written all over it.

How long before the wedding?

Is this the matrimonial equivalent of throwing Jamie Moyer under the bus in favor of J.A. Happ?

I actually had a friend who canceled his wedding less than a month before it was scheduled

My wife's cousin did that with less than two weeks before the date, to great collective relief--guy was a freakin' weirdo.

I bet most marriages are a product of momentum--you marry the person you're with at the time one or both of you is ready to marry, or you simply get involved with someone for a certain amount of time, and marriage just seems like the next step, and you either have to get married or break up.

Two months. I don't really feel like it's my place to do anything, but I'm gonna try to have a drink with her next week and just maybe do some thinking for her and try get her to make sure she's sure.

It seemed like a long time at the time, but now it doesn't.

For instance I got married four years ago but it feels like it was last summer.

I bet if you sleep with her, that might put the kibosh on the wedding.

I think it depends on your marriage readiness (based on age, achievement of career goals, and so on) more than anything else. Mrs. Vulture and I dated 2 years I think.

I think that my aunt was supposed to get married and was talked out of it by her family. I also believe she is still bitter about it some thirty years later.

I think Vox and I met (at work) in '95, started dating in '96, engaged in '98, married in '99. VoxJr in '02; BabyVox in '07.
