my dog is deaf, so he no longer responds to his own name or any commands. he also has lost control of his bladder, so he has to wear a diaper when he's in the house. we think he's diabetic, because he drinks water like a fish. recently, he's started escaping through the gate that has held him in for the majority of his life. and yet he somehow makes it across the busy streets in my neighborhood and finds his way to safety every time.

he's now 13 years old and a colossal pain in the ass. but if you play with him, he's still as excited as he was when he was 13 weeks old. he's somewhere in his mid-to-late 70s according to the dog years chart i found on wikipedia. he's lived a pretty good life. but i'll probably cry worse than jerseyhoya reading a Bill Simmons column when he dies.

If you post a good enough story when your dog dies and I'm drunk, I might cry too

My brother's dog passed away the other day. A 7 year old black lab. It was quite shocking and unexpected, as he (the dog) had shown no signs of any health issues. My brother said he took him for his evening walk, and after returning home, he became lethargic for awhile but seemed fine soon after. A little later that evening, he collapsed. They rushed him to the emergency vet hospital but it was too late. The vet said he died just about immediately after collapsing and speculated he might have had an enlarged heart (an enheirited undiagnosed birth defect). My brother and his family are devistated, as it happened quite fast and unexpectedly, and the dog was still quite young and had not shown any prior signs to indicate a potential health issue (had always seemed healthy and normal), not even their regular vet suspected anything prior.

BSG in-jokes are starting to creep into my dreams. I don't know if this is hilarious or extremely sad news
you sure do seem to have a lot of time on your hands to be on this forum? Do you have a job? Are you a shut-in?

Are they in narrative, with whatever Simpsons character voice you think that BSG'er would sound like?

I generally refrain from offering strong personal opinions in my classes, but I'm making an exception for Lou Dobbs. He's an idiot.

My mobile office for the last two hours is the back of my van in the parking lot of VoxJr's camp. I've got AC, a movie, snacks and drinks... The only bummer is that my laptop battery is dying.
