Any news on the Murtha/Russell race?

Murtha is up.

Gerlach is tied in his.

Pitts is losing.

Those last two are crazy to me.

i repeat, gerlach is always(as in both times) tied and always wins by 2-4K votes. we'll see

The worst part of all this for the McCain people must be to spend the evening telling your supporters you're still in this.

Nah. He has balls, and he didn't use them. He didn't want a negative campaign, and he ran one, or let one be run. He showed glimpses - with the terrorist bullshit, THAT was McCain. Yelled at one of HIS supporters for being an idiot.

He'd never have selected Palin, but he took her. He would have taken Lieberman. And given the finger to whomever didn't like it.

True. We will see, Pitts has been in office for 12 years. I had no idea he had a chance of losing.

This fictional McCain would have won 100 or so electoral votes, and we would have lost a couple more Senate seats since the base would have chilled at home.

I really do think he'd have done worse without her.

In the end, the economic collapse ended all of his chances, no VP would have saved him.

I think Romney MIGHT have saved his bacon in the face of the economic mess.... stand up there, and speak like a CEO. And talk money, and making money, and show some confidence.

I believe all Palin did was solidify a base that was never voting Obama anyway, and turn off many of the undecideds.

Possibly. But this McCain lost, and lost running someone else's campaign. McCain / Palin could have been any two people; there's nothing McCain about this campaign.

Doesn't matter. They were going to lose. I just think McCain will have regrets. Not a big deal.

You're just sulking.

You want me to PROVE that McCain is different that 8 years ago, which I clearly cannot do.

But this McCain, the one on my TV the last 6 months, is a pussy. That's not how I felt about him in the past.

You're talking about two different things here from my perspective.

Republicans don't win or when they do win they can't sustain the win when they are half liberals. Why bother voting for Dole or Sununu?

Palin is the opposite.

Sununu is awesome. It is a shame he lost. I have no idea what you think Dole and Sununu are, but they aren't moderates.

I'm shocked people question Shore on this. Where the heck was the base going to go? Stay home? And let some black dude win? They're called the base for a reason. They're voting R no matter what. It's like when the Dems brilliantly selected Casey to outflank Santorum on abortion. Did Lisa Liberal stay home? Of course not, she needed to vote AGAINST Santorum. McCain choose Lieberman or Ridge, seemingly his top two choices, and he's got a lot of moderates, including my dad's and wife's vote.

Doesn't look like the Dems are going to do any better than 59 anyway in the Senate at least. Chambliss looks pretty good, and so does Wicker.

Louisiana is really close too.

FWIW I've replied no less than three times to Shore, and twice to jeff, and decided each time it wasn't worth the argument.
