Congratulations Mr. Obama, and congratulations to his supporters. It's been a cold 8 years for you guys, have one one on me. This is a historic achievement for Obama, and for America. Everyone should be proud. Obama is my president now too, and I'm going to try and respect that better than the folks I criticized over the past eight years for not accepting the same thing of Bush. I hope this serves to calm the conspiracy freaks down a bit and works to level out the bitterness and various derangement syndromes.

Nicely said.

Maybe we can end affirmative action. That'd be a nice side bonus.

I'm halfway in between you guys. I think you're more right than they are. I am not sure they've ever met a member of the GOP base, and really have no idea how much they hate McCain. Like really, our base hates him.

I have met members of your base, but I don't know if the hatred is as pervasive as you think.

Let's be honest, Republicans lost for the most part because of the multiple failures of the Bush administration, and a crap economy.

I agree. I don't understand the need to blame Palin. I don't think she helped anything, but it's not like we would have won if he picked someone better.

Lieberman would have led to a total wipeout, same with anyone else pro-choice. Pawlenty? I dunno, changes the map a bit, but might cost you in the South. Romney changes the map again, but still would have caused lots of problems.

Would any of these people vote for a Republican ticket that had a pro-choice element?

Any? Of course. Many? Probably. Again, would any libs vote for a pro-lifer for US Senate? They would when the other choice is even crazier.

We're going to lose another Senate race in Louisiana by less than 5%. I hate that dick tease of a state.

Pretty common summation of what I'm seeing on the righty websites:

There are about 1,460 days until the next Presidential election, and I assume that I will spend approximately the next 1,459 of them opposing Barack Obama. But I’m spending today proud abut what my country has overcome.

McCain conceeding now. Has to be the earliest concession speech since Dole, right?

PA 29th Senatorial District was won by a guy who died in a car accident a few weeks ago. Special election coming up.

Dave Argall kept his seat in the House. Inconsequential to most (likely all) here, but he's a damn good politician and I'm always happy to see him win.

But by all rights, he could have waited an hour before even starting.

Nice speech.

Beats the hell out of Edwards coming out at 3 AM after they had lost saying they weren't conceding till tomorrow.
