Election Day Thread

I think Norm Coleman might win. St. Paul is all in. Minneapolis still has some to go, and there's a lot of Duluth out, but there are some Republican parts out as well.

Michigan now has medical marijuana. Washington has doctor-assisted suicide.

Abortion restriction measures failed in Colorado and South Dakota. Gay marriage banned in Florida and Arizona.

Actually, what we did in Arkansas was ban cohabiting, but unmarried couples from adopting or being foster parents.

Why even have elections? Let's just appoint judges via IQ tests! Let them run everything.

You have to admit though that california's initiative and referundum system is pretty fucked, and a dumbass way to govern.

How the hell does people being allowed to marry the person of their choice affect you?

it really is ridiculous though.

anyway, marin county has barely reported, so there's that. the inland empire is overwhelmingly voting yes, and LA, Ventua and Santa Barbara have a lot more yes votes than I figured they would.

Prop 8 numbers are moving in the right direction. Still only 10% from LA County so far.

Man I am tired. But happy, and proud.

McCain gave a tremendous speech. Obama too. I think he grasps that this was, incredibly enough, the easy part.

I hope the Republicans understand where this came from and draw the correct lesson, though I doubt they will; rather than understanding this as a rejection of Bush and "Bushism," they'll probably conclude that if only they'd done more red-baiting and Wright-baiting--"the Full Palin"--they would have won.

In all, though, a great night, albeit one that will be considerably less great if the abhorrent Prop 8 passes in CA.

It doesn't, and I support gay marriage. I prefer my laws to be made by legislatures and not judges.

All of North Carolina's precincts have been counted, yet it remains "too close to call" for some unknown reason.

16.2% LA county in and I can't believe there are still more Yes votes than no. Hopefully that will change and will be the difference.

Wow. Coleman up by less than 2,000 votes with 89% reporting.

I can't believe my drunk ass is sitting here rooting for Ted Stevens and Don Young at 2 in the morning.

I mean, both are basically criminals. Only one has been convicted though.

There's so much of Duluth still to report. Coleman is in a lot of trouble. Still winning though.

That said, the other stuff still to come in is in MN-03 and MN-06, which are GOP districts.

Really gonna be a nail biter.

The difference in Missouri is 398 votes right now, although it appears the outstanding votes are in Republican areas.

Also, Obama is absolutely kicking McCain's ass in Nevada right now (with a lot of votes still remaining to be counted). Seriously, New Jersey is closer in percentage terms than Nevada right now.

Al Franken is going to be a Senator. I mean, Jesus Christ.

At least Mary Jo Kilroy isn't going to Congress.

I can't believe Ted Stevens might actually win. What a fucking joke. I'll trade you that seat for Minnesota...or Oregon...or New Hampshire...
