My laptop said 3 minutes left on the battery when I booted it up 45 minutes ago. Now it says it has 9 minutes left.

Elijah's battery?

Apparently, there's some sort of election thing going on in Pennsylvania. Wolf Blitzer on CNN says to some election dude, "Go ahead and give us your analysis". I swear it sounded like he said "urinalysis".

Hour and a half now - still 9 minutes left.

THis is kind of a good Vista bug, if you ask me.

Could be they used the same algorithm that they used for the "estimated time remaining" for file copying and such... which was obviously created by the same fellow that created the algorithm for airport arrival and departure times.

My gram is also in a really bad situation and it is really rough on all of us. She is the biggest Phillies fan, and was taken to the hospital a few days ago with what we had hoped was just a wicked cold, but it turns out that it is severe pneumonia and now she has no circulation and could lose a leg so they are doing surgery on it tomorrow at 12:15 tomorrow(which she still doesn't want) so that gangrene doesn't set in on her legs. I don't really understand what all is to this but I am feeling worse the more I know.

My great grandmother and my grams mom is still in great shape and living on her own but talking to her today about two hours ago and hearing her and how beside herself she is makes it hard to keep any kind of compusure. My dad seems to be holding up pretty well to this point, and hopefully everything will be smooth tomorrow and thigns can start looking up.

Hope everything turns out good and ok for your gram, Bill McNeal.
Do it again!

All my grandparents have passed, but Vox's Nana (grandmother) has practically adopted me as one of her own. The boys are her first and third great-grandchildren. When I'm having tough times with the kids, she sends me hand-written notes for moral support, and just all around always seems to be thinking of us. She and her family have given me the greatest appreciation for family, and it actually makes me sad that my parents' own family dynamics has caused such rifts that I barely see them, let alone my aunts and uncles and cousins.

So, here's to all the grandmoms / nanas / mom-moms that we love and have lost.

Of course. I'm not signing anything without having an attorney friend give it a look.

Why do crazy viloent kids document their crimes in journals, recordings, pictures, etc..? The Columbine choads did this, the VA Tech wackjob did and now this genius who was gonna blow up his school w/ 10 lbs of ammonium nitrate. Dumbass, they're going to use your journal to put you in Federal pounded-in-the-ass prison

Prosecutor Hodge said investigators found an attack timeline in Schallenberger’s journal. The entry, according to reports, included how he would lock his school’s doors, where he would place more than five explosives in the building. According to reports, the journal also contained a hand-drawn map of the school, praise for the Columbine killers in his journal. Police say they also found an audiotape that was to have been played after Schallenberger died.

It's not so much the legalese aspect, but rather weighing up what the publisher's record on dealing with different kinds of rights are. You might be inclined to think you should hold on to UK publishing rights (say), because it makes good sense. But the publisher might have a perfectly decent connection with a good UK publisher so, you'd get a good percentage out of the sale, maybe for more money than you could have arranged yourself. Plus, obviously, you get plugged into decent distribution in a market you don't know that well.

It's hard to judge from the point of view of the author, which is why an agent can help, obviously. I know from experience on the other side of things that nothing makes a publisher happier than having extensive control over a variety of rights - it makes it easier to look at the bottom line when you can cover an advance by selling on film rights (not that that's likely to happen in this case, I'm guessing).

Hey! We're not all geniuses who can plan out every aspect of a heart-stopping atrocity in our brains!

Man, that makes me feel stupid. I had loads of plans all writ out and everything, and now I'm going to have to memorise them. Way to go, woody.

But if you read the articles, this kid apparently had friends, was social, was always making people laugh, etc..

My Mom-mom passed away last night, her son was going through the rosary with her and, as soon as he finished he said goodnight mom, and she took a deep breath and then stopped breathing. Her last words were to me on Monday about my son. I miss my mom-mom :(
