i'm hoping that not yet having signed up for another year of frenchy's clubhouse wonderfulness (barf) indicates the phils really are going to grab at least one of the outfielders on the list. they might even be planning to move odubel back to second and hoping to grab two of the rule 5 outfielders, with frenchy as a backup plan if the 2nd guy they want is gone before their second pick.

give me a break... it's a looooooonnngggg offseason when the eagles and sixers and flyers all suck to much to make following their sports anything but depressing. (and i gave up following college basketball and football after seeing too much of the ugly corruption up close in colorado followed by the disgusting scandal at penn state that made me want to burn all the nittany lions stuff i still have lying around)

The Rays have like the bestest named minor league affiliates... Brisbane Bandits, Bowling Green Hot Rods, Charlotte Stone Crabs, Montgomery Biscuits.

Goeddel started raking this past season as it seems his body had started filling out a bit... line drive power to all fields and the homers started to come (/PiP)

what the heck... might as well go all in...
i'm going to go ahead and hope that frenchy isn't the backup plan for being able to get two good rule 5 outfield prospects which ain't gonna happen with the bravos and some other teams committed to tanking in 2016, but rather for the maybe ever so slightly more plausible plan of using their first pick to grab the guy they want and then complete the outfield by making heyward and offer he can't refuse.
wouldn't it be fun to have a 2nd-half lineup of heyward, altherr, goeddel, franco, odubel, crawford, knapp and williams (with williams at 1b just because we can) and a bench of cozens, alfaro, quinn, rupp, and galvis?
nola, eickhoff, thompson, hellickson, morgan as the rotation and i don't even care about the bullpen beyond giles, since we suddenly seem to have infinite depth there.

You just got to hope that half of them turn out to be league average or better with one or two stars. That may not be realistic, but it's what I'm hoping for (well, I'm hoping for all stars, but that's definitely not realistic).

I do think it's going to be fun to watch, though I'm sure our bench won't have a bunch of youngsters on it. They're better off getting ABs at AAA. Frenchy or some like him is fine with me for a roster spot or two. Blanco and Frenchy would be fine, for example, though I guess I'd prefer someone with more upside in the backup OF spot.

I agree about the bullpen. Throw a bunch of hard throwers out there and see what develops.If you can get fair value, trade Giles.

I am not really on the Odubel back 2b thing. Kingery should be our future a 2b ready to contribute shortly and Odubel looks like he might have the potential to be an elite CFer. He helped save the season for me a little last year.
