I turn my head and then Eickhoff? Phillies random thoughts

I don't know. I like my OFs with high OBP or high SLG. The defensive metrics just seem so unreliable to me. I would have preferred to trade something for Trumbo and put him in LF. Still hoping we take Goeddel, Hernandez or Blash in the Rule 5

#Astros and #Phillies recently discussed Ken Giles. #Phillies brought up Lance McCullers and Vincent Velasquez, sources say. Phillies are getting a lot of hits on Giles and trade talks are likely to intensify in Nashville.

Flip McCullers for Ozuna?

I'd rather keep McCullers in the event that the Astros would be dumb enough to do that.

I certainly hope bourjos is a good fielder because he sure as heck doesn't do anything else well.

I would have preferred to hold onto Ogando.

He has a great reputation amongst both scouty types and computer numbers guys. I liked him a few years ago but he hasn't hit at all. I like the idea of having a great defense so I like this move.

If the plural of anecdote isn't data, then I'm sure the singular of anecdote isn't either.

I'm sure he's a great fielder. He just can't hit AT ALL. He seems like a great 4th OFer on a good team, but is pretty useless on a team in the Phillies' position, imo. Altherr plays a pretty solid CF, as does Herrera, as does Quinn. I just don't see his purpose on the Phils. He didn't cost anything, which is nice, except a roster spot we could have used on someone who isn't redundant.

id be asking about Preston Tucker and AJ Reed personally

I'm iffy on Preston Tucker, especially since he died in 1956

He's the car designer they did a movie about w/ Jeff Bridges. "Tucker developed a car so far ahead of its time that the large car manufacturers felt compelled to use corrupt federal bureaucrats to shut him down."

Bourjos got $2M, Blanco $1.45M to avoid arbitration. Tendered the rest (Hellickson, Galvis, Gomez)

Quinn needs to stay healthy. He isn't ready for the big leagues yet. The Frenchman can keep the bench warm until he's ready. And Bourjos can play some defense during the season when we D up in the OF. Altherrr, Herrera and he would catch damn near everything lofted out there.

Henderson Alvarez would be an interesting non-tender guy to try to bring in.

How much serv time does bourjos has?

Hes a whatever player but i at least like that we're taking advantage of the waiver slot. One of many baffling things re rube was reticence to claim anyone ever with a roster half full of pond scum

How do the non-tenders work? Is it like waivers?

I like this, assuming they think his arm won't fall off.

I just think speedy, defensive-minded CFers is something we already have in spades. I do like using the waiver slot to our advantage and I otherwise wouldn't care one way or another because he's clearly a temporary piece. I just think if we could only keep one of them, I would have preferred to keep Ogando. I'll wait to see how the whole thing plays out though. Maybe they have a plan in which this makes sense.
