That seems more likely, I agree, but I'm intrigued by having a guy with Herrera's hitting ability at 2B, especially when OF is pretty well-stocked in the minors at this point.

i too prefer herrera at 2b. barring the 3b/1b moves i'm still trying to avoid mentioning (with limited success, sorry),
i would accommodate that by making cesar part of a three-headed utility monster, together with asche and blanco. on any given day, one would start in left while the others backup cf (by going to rf or 2b to let altherr or herrera move there), 2b, lf, rf, 1b, and 3b.
and, as noted by others, dumping ryan "sunk cost" howard is the a#1 remaining piece of unfinished business that would make most other roster decisions easier. only reason not to is if they have trade plans for asche and don't want to rush williams or cozens to the big leagues to fill the lh power bat spot.
