Phillies were the last Philly team to win a championship and the way things look, Phillies will be the next.

scotts is paying the phillies a lot of money to license 'citizen's bank turf' so i don't think it's changing any time soon

CBP had Kentucky Bluegrass when it opened. I wonder when the change happened.

Need to find the commercial with Wolf (?) and Lieberthal (?) frolicking through the grass...

1. Kinda irked that the worst team in baseball thinks its worth risking their 14th ranked prospect (Alberto Tirado) because they don't think he can stick on another teams ML roster. Hope they are right. I don't even like our guys spending Spring Training with another team. Think it messes up their development. Our 40 man roster has at least a couple of guys who I couldn't care if they were in our system at all, let alone on the 40 man roster.

2. Too early to judge but I'm feeling like I prefer the minor league free agents we are losing (Destin Hood, Colin Klevan) more than the ones we are signing (though Ryan Jackson is decent).

3. Hope we leverage the first pick in the Rule 5 draft for something. Maybe another team is in love with someone available and will trade us an actual prospect for the guy we take.

4. Am fascinated to see how active Ken Giles interest is at the Owners meeting.

This is the one that keeps sticking in my head. It might be a bad year but I still hope they can win some games, and he is good, really good. Not Kimbrel good but if you can't get something close to that given how much he costs don't flinch.

Who is our closer if he goes? I like the idea of trading him if he brings back a lot but not at all if we get a potential future him plus. They already exposed a guy that could be a future closer?

Not really worried about having a replacement for him. We have a minimum of 2 years to find a serviceable closer. If Andy and Kleenex are at all capable at their jobs that is more than enough time. Trade him before his arm falls off. I just wish they'd have been the first mover rather than SD making the deal. We now probably have to wait until the deadline for a decent haul.

*Might have misinterpreted what Willy was saying. Agree though that the return shouldn't just be potential replacement and kicking service time down the road.

Mitch Rupert(Crosscutters' beat writer) said on a radio show yesterday that he thinks Jimmy Cordero could be a future closer. Finished the yr at Reading.
(Brandy) only hinted at Halladay's personal issues during her Hall of Fame speech last July, when she said, "Roy would want everyone to know that people are not perfect. We're all imperfect and flawed in one way or another. We all struggle."

Maybe I am overly optimistic but I think we will be legit WC contenders in 2017.

he's still cheap and controllable in 2 years, too. Unless it's a lock, surefire trade piece in return, i just don't see it

Part of the equation is a hitter or even a starting pitcher should have a longer shelf life than a closer. But yeah I don't see them banging him out of there for crap

Elite relievers have never been valued more highly. At least in recent history.

Wow. Didn't think people here would really be attached to a closer for a team that could/should be sub-500 for the next 2-3 years. Get some real pieces. Relievers are fungible and such.
