Good point. They could at least pick a Cougar.

Don't get your hopes up. The second interview is for Carrabba's.

Oh, she should just go by Wú or Woo (Mandarin for the Cantonese "Ng" surname), or Ruǎn (pronounced ʐwàn) or Wong or Huáng (Mandarin for the Taiwanese "Ng" surname). Then we wouldn't need to buy a vowel.

I attended a wedding a couple years ago where the parties had surnames of Wu and Woo. The Wu-Woo wedding.

Was it Ric Flair themed?

I'm sure someone's made this point, but I was thinking about the 10 playoff teams.

New York Yankees
New York Mets
Los Angeles Dodgers
Chicago Cubs
Houston Astros
Texas Rangers
St. Louis Cards
Pittsburgh Pirates
Kansas City Royals
Toronto Blue Jays

Most populous MSAs in America
1. New York
2. Los Angeles
3. Chicago
4. Dallas
5. Houston
(6. Philadelphia)
19. St. Louis
23. Pittsburgh
29. KC

Toronto would be in the top 10 in the US.

I wonder if anyone will bring up small market competitive balance and disparity this offseason.

i know that both this and my earlier list of the bwar value production rates for phillies hitters both should be in my "war" thread, and i'll get them copied over there later, but there just enough chance of someone else being interested that i'll still add the equivalent list for pitchers as well.

among the 201 mlb pitchers i decided could be called starters (according my own funky cutoff criteria for the ratio of starts to games) and had at least 50 ip in 2015,
eickhoff ranked 3rd in my 200*pwar/ip proxy for value rate converted to full season value, with a score of 7.45, behind only greinke (8.37) and ariette (7.51). kershaw was 4th at 6.46, scherzer 7th at 5.45, price 12th at 5.43, nola 15th at 4.92 (just a hair ahead of degrom), hamels 28th at 4.15, and morgan 85th at 2.38 (just ahead of haren).

needless to say, our other starters were buried deep in the lower half of the list. impressively, 5 guys managed to be worse than buchanen, and 16 worse than jerome and sos.

Is it me or does everything seem quiet in Phillies land? Are they sneaking the GM candidates into their interviews in the dark of night?

GM search isn't really that sexy to follow on a daily basis
Probably won't be a factor in free agency
Few trade assets left to unload (Howard/Ruiz)
No polarizing personalities anywhere to be found

Yeah, I'd say its going be pretty quiet

I'd like to understand what that means more precisely? Is he an advisor to the owners? Does Macphail have someone looking over his shoulder? Is he the Dave Montgomery in some way? I don't know that I like it.

I really want a clean house in the front-office.

To me, it's a bit of a concern that a GM is hired after a manager.

That said, I think they finally have some young talent, both in the everyday and pitching. And then a good draft could add even more. Not sure how to think about FA. I'm not opposed to 1 year deals but don't want to block youngsters or take ABs away. Starting pitching is always a thing.

I'm anxious to see if Franco and Herrera for instance, can improve next year? Can any of the younger pitchers stay healthy and avoid bad slumps. Is there a pitching coach guru we can hire to help develop the young guys? Sometimes learning one new pitch can change a guy's career. Do we have teachers on-hand?

It's hard to figure out where decision making will rest ultimately. Will the GM really be in charge?
