Back in a tie for last place overall.

Have to finish (not) strong to get that #1 overall.

Tragic number at 16 for wild card elimination.

Mackanin not starting Altherr once in the Met series kinda irks me. I know they were all RHPs but we've got to find out about him.

Conversely, failure on the field isn’t necessarily enough to dissuade a happy fan base. The Phillies, hopeless since the beginning of the year, nevertheless have fans who aren’t that much sadder than they were before the season. Despite the loss of erstwhile ace Cole Hamels at the trade deadline, fans have gotten happier since July — his trade and others signaled a shift in direction for the team toward rebuilding.
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

Completely insane.

Sweeney and Altherr should be starting every day. Running dreck like Dom Brown and Asche out there over Altherr is crazy.

i too hate seeing altherr on the bench, but i'm not sure this is completely the wrong thing to do. whereas altherr still has options and clearly is good enough to have at least a bench spot on the phils next year, they most likely gotta make final decisions on brown and asche this offseason, and it could be beneficial to make sure those two get every possible chance to recover some value as trade bait instead of just being release candidates (mostly brown) or show enough improvement to be worth keeping as cheap outfield depth for 2016/17 in case guys like quinn and dugan never get healthy, especially given that there is NO WAY i want to have another guy like frenchy or evil young even as a place holder on the phils any time soon.

on the other hand, every time that altherr is on the bench with frenchy starting, a kitten gets cancer.

i doubt two months is going to sway a trade partner one way or another. neither would appear to have market from what I can see.

OTOH, I think the Phillies' loyalty stigma provides that they give ample time to Chooch (and to a lesser extent Howie) to give him an opportunity to bounce back a bit in case he wants to try to extend his career after this year.

Don't think it has been mentioned but it looks like the phillies will be the first to install additional netting to protect the fans.
