Protect them from what? Do any Phils actually hit the ball hard enough to hurt someone? Maybe, the netting is to protect the players from getting the crap beat out of them by the fans.

(Brandy) only hinted at Halladay's personal issues during her Hall of Fame speech last July, when she said, "Roy would want everyone to know that people are not perfect. We're all imperfect and flawed in one way or another. We all struggle."

Read that earlier. Good insight. Cherington's name mentioned for the first time.

Heard it replaced the AMARO (Always Manufactured Asshat Roster Opinions) system.

Cheers to Crasnick for being the one to break the PHIL system and thusly give unto the world thousands of future snarky comments and at least one or two ill conceived cartoons by that dope who makes the dumb sports ones

It's like they decided on the acronym first and then let a roomful of 4 year olds go to town

"Location" is definitely the best part.
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

A woman was injured by a foul ball at a Philadelphia Phillies game Thursday night hours after the Major League Baseball commissioner was at the stadium and spoke about increasing fan safety.

Commissioner Rob Manfred talked at Citizens Bank Park before the New York Mets played the Phillies. He said there was a chance that extra safety nets could be put up around the majors as early as next season.

In the second inning, a fan sitting five rows off the field was hit in the forehead by a foul off the bat of Freddy Galvis of the Phillies. The team said she was evaluated and didn't need to go to a hospital.
.
.
The female fan in Philadelphia was sitting just to the right of where the netting ends. Fans around her immediately motioned for medical personnel, and Phillies players threw a towel from the dugout to help stop any bleeding.

The woman eventually was helped to the concourse.

2016 Home Opener is Monday, April 11.
This is a simple game. You throw the ball, you hit the ball, you catch the ball.

Cherington would be interesting. Maybe he can be a good GM with a little more supervision from the President's office or something. A sanity check on giving Hanley Ramirez and Pablo Sandoval types big long term contracts.

He was there for the Epstein years and has done great things for their farm system. Had that truly amazing 2013 offseason, then this year's disaster. Could be a real nice complement to McPhail. I'm interested.

Quote from the article:
"Amaro expressed similar sentiments while watching the trouncing by the Mets with senior adviser Dallas Green and the rest of his front-office team from the general manager's box on Monday."

What is the point of them, Amaro, Green, et. al., being at the game? To watch the crap that they've managed to put together on the field? They are the seeds for the organization's failure over the last three seasons. I hope that MacPhail sweeps out all of them.

I'm actually wondering if the opposite is true. Think lucchino might've meddled a bit this offseason and had a hand in those contracts. I'm sure those inside the industry know which happened so if they go with him I'm fine with it.
