Quite the fall for JDF.

I feel like that's a pretty shitty move. He was pretty good a couple years ago and Sandberg ruined him. No reason for that move IMHO.

His velocity was way down and now he has more time to latch on with another team. But yeah, they abused him.

They didn't do anything to help him, but his stuff looks to be gone.

He started getting hit around early in the season. He was made a mop up guy about a month later. Deservedly so. That's when he stared throwing two innings or a little more in some appearances.

He's probably one of those guys who'll put it all together somewhere down the line, but not in Philly.

Game 3 of the season, he threw 50 pitches in 2 innings of relief.

He threw 28 and 29 back-to-back games April 14-15 (games 8 and 9)... 28 and 29 would have been his 3rd and 4th longest outing in 2014.

A week later, he threw 48, and then closed out April throwing 35 and 43.

Still, after pitching 3 consecutive days in mid-May, he had a 2.45 ERA. From that point on, though, he had a 6.42.

Sandberg destroyed him in April.

Could be. He only topped twenty pitches twice in May and once more in June until the 16th. The April pitches may have toasted his arm. It's been done before with Reliefers. Probably not a great idea regardless.

Yeah, I think JDF got screwed this year. He had a better than 4-1 K/BB ration last year, this year, half that? I know relievers are up and down, but he's 27, he shouldn't be "losing his stuff", at least not that dramatically. Sandberg is a fucking moron. JDF & Diek could have been solid 7th/8th inning arms if used correctly.
