RANDAMARO PHILLIES THOUGHTS

Re: RANDAMARO PHILLIES THOUGHTS

no, this was much different than a "straight forward" answer. He insulted anyone on the team who wasn't anxious to leave. It was obnoxious, rude, and confrontational.

A "straight forward" answer would be "sure, i'd waive my NTC to go to a winner if they ask". A bunghole response is "some guys want to stay on a losing team? That's mind boggling to me".

some guys want to turn around a team they love, too

others want to see something through. different people think differently.

it's not as no-brainer of a response as some think. i don't think we should read too much into him, though. he's just a dumb prick.

The quote is whatever to me.

I am more stunned that everyone here has wasted their time acting like Jonathan Papelbon saying something controversial is a shock.

I mean, how many times have we sat here now and been like "Wow! Can't believe Papelbon said that!" 4, 5 times now? It's just who he is.

This board's irrational hate of Papelbon is borderline dumb at this point. Sure he is kinda annoying. But getting mad at someone who actually would like to win (and is performing pretty damn well, i might add) is silly.

i fail to see how it's irrational. the guy's an asshole who blames others for his problems. the worst kind of asshole.

he's a jerkoff and this season is the perfect example of why a horrible team doesn't need a good closer. he said something idiotic, again, but this time i don't mind because what he suggested helps the phillies.

No one is mad at him because "he wants to win". That's complete bullshit. They're made because he takes every opportunity to act as tone deaf and douchey as possible

He didn't say, "I love it here and Philly has been great to me, so I don't want to leave. But yeah-- if I got the opportunity to play for a contender I'd might be okay with a trade in the right sort of situation. But right now I'm focused on being a Phillies."

Instead he said, basically, "Yeah get me the fuck out of here this is dogshit." As though Ruben brought him here on a slave ship against his will

Add in the part where he says anyone who wants to stay in this mess is a fuck head, then you got it.

I wish all the non assholes would play as well as he has been, if that was the case he wouldn't have to be answering that question. This team is dogshit, their performance speaks for itself...it's not a coincidence their ratings are down and the stadium is usually half full nightly with nothing in the near future to be excited about. I don't blame him or anyone else that would waive their NTC to get out if here, he just has the balls to be straight forward about it

Papelbon is an ass. But he did say this part, too:

I'm with a group of guys in the bullpen that can do very special things in the future. I've been waiting for that, you know what I mean? It's fun to be a part of that, it really is. We are there finally with our bullpen. So that aspect of it would kind of [stink] to leave.

Amaro's been trying to trade Paps for over a year now and he's still here. What are the chances he's traded this season?

The 2016 option vests with 100 GF in 14-15 and he's at 30 now and averages 58 per 162 games in his career. Unless he's not a closer here or elsewhere or he gets hurt for at least a couple months, that option will vest.
