yeh, the strawmen being thrown around in here are ridiculous. I don't have any problem with him wanting to leave or even expressing those thoughts, but there's a right way and a wrong way to do it. And the idea that he helped the Phils by making it look like the team is fracturing is just wrong, imho. When teams know another team really wants or needs to trade a player, the price goes down. He can let the ptb know that he wants traded without putting public pressure on them to do so.

Anyway, it's not surprising that he said this because he has a history of being either tone deaf or selfish. I hope they can trade him and I hope we get something back that's useful going forward. That's all that really matters.

To those saying it doesn't really matter what he just said, it does, maybe the magnitude of this specific incident is being overplayed, but the continued bitchyness goes against him. If you read the "anonymous exec/GM" quote articles, they include quotes like "I wouldn't trade for him with his attitude and money owed and decreased velocity yada yada yada" it doesn't mean that no one would trade for him, but his continual being a prick like this turns off potential partners as much as anything else. I'd rather he just keep his mouth shut and pitch well, he can waive his no trade without saying anything in the press, he just has to tell rub or his agent and it's done.
