The #mariners, on the lookout for a RH bat, recently scouted the #phillies Marlon Byrd.

Hope we can get Aumont from them.

They have some failed prospects and sore shouldered pitchers I'm sure we're interested in.
Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

I wouldn't object to Ackley and a guy in their 6-10 range.

Salisbury reports that Byrd has a 4 team no trade clause and the teams are Toronto, KC, Tampa Bay and........Seattle.

but also reported that Byrd didn't view it as ironclad and thus seemingly could be persuaded (....cash I guess).

“I don’t want to get traded,” he said Thursday in Milwaukee. “I signed a two-year deal here for a reason. The thought process was to retire as a Phillie. At the same time, this is a business and I know how it works. If trading me makes the organization better, I have to go with it.”

Said Toronto and Tampa were because of the turf. The other two were arbitrary

Nick Franklin might be a better option for us. They have a guy named Chris Owens who also could be interesting.

Bet he'll do better than Gwynn, Jr.

He must not want to win as much as Papelbon.

I GOT it! We should TRADE all the guys who want to STAY and KEEP all the guys who want to LEAVE! That way we'll only have WINNERS left!

in 67 lifetime plate appearances against Nolan Ryan, Dick Allen went 16-44 (.364) with 3 HR, 16 RBI and 22 walks, good for a whopping .567 OB%.

This makes me both love Marlon Byrd, and make me think the Phillies are viewed as a retirement community in the MLB.
