Wait, we gave Byrd a no-trade clause? WTF

KC on the list because Byrd hates all things up-to-date
Fine. You wanna act like you're two? I'll act like I'm one.

It seems that Ruben adds some kind of no-trade and club option to every contract. Do other GM's do this?

“I haven’t ever envisioned leaving Philadelphia, honestly,” Utley said. “I feel like I’m wanted in Philly. I feel like the fans appreciate the way I play. I feel like the front office appreciates the way I play. And I appreciate their support over the years. I don’t plan on going anywhere. But, again, if someone comes up to me and says, ‘You’re no longer wanted in Philly,’ then I’ll have to change my tune.”

I don't get why reporters need to ask him this every week. It's simple. He wants to stay, but if you don't want him anymore, he will accept a trade. It's not going to change.

best case = nick franklin

agree with this. a middle infielder that can hit and get on base. guess the question would be where he plays in philly. not convinced the mariners are ready to give up on him.

realistic = of austin wilson, lhp tyler pike

wilson might be too highly rated to expect. 49th pick last year and was linked to the phillies. having a good season (.298/.385/.523) but hasn't played since june 24th. pike is a good arm who has been erratic this year. 64 bb and 70 k in 81 ip.

worst case = junk off their major league roster

As we're starting to bring these new young infielders to the majors (asche, Crawford, Franco, and maybe a guy like Franklin if he comes in a trade), am I the only one who thinks we're REALLY, REALLY going to miss Vukovich?

Guy was a master at working with IFers. Missing you, Vuke.

Yes, and he was the one who worked with Rollins, Utley, and Howard as they were making the transition to the majors. I wish we still had him with the new group on the way, that's all.

Ryan Howard's infield performance is something that would make anyone proud no matter how long they've been dead for

I could've done better there. Should've went with something like Ryan Howard plays infield like the guy who coaches him has been dead for seven years.
