If the Phillies are really going to pack it in and go with kids, Ruiz would also bring a big, big return from the right pennant contender.

I don't agree at all. The Phillies have a lot of vets who could be extremely helpful to a contender in a deadline deal. They are over-flowing with such players. They have to be healthy and playing tolerably well for a sucky Phillies team for deals to be likely, but I can't really think of anyone who would be a more attractive trade target than Halladay, Papelbon, Utley. With that you've written off 2014 into total rebuild mode, but 2015 could look pretty good. For 2014 you go with the kids: Brown, Ruf, Galvis, Asche, Martin, Biddle, Pettibone, Aumont, DeFratus, Rosenberg, Joseph/Valle, Hernandez, Gillies.

Or they are starting to reduce payroll?
