Clay Condrey (can't believe he had an impact)
Chad Durbin (most effective boring guy you saw come into a game)
Adam Eaton (pissed me off so much, then caused great joy when he was dumped, then pissed me off again that he got a ring)
Scott Eyre (did so much better then I expected)
Tom Gordon (holding on just enough)
J. A. Happ (not a factor)
Jamie Moyer (best record as a starter)
Brett Myers (attitude problem leading to his departure)
Rudy Seánez (bleh)
Eric Bruntlett (fun to make fun of - thanks for the triple play general)
Greg Dobbs (really?!? Had a magic bat from the bench)
Pedro Feliz (great glove, but made you insane)
Tadahito Iguchi (were you ever so happy to have Iguchi on the roster?)
So Taguchi (stopped by to pick up another ring - but not much else)
Softball Star Matt Stairs
& a pretty worn out Pat Burrell.

I think almost all those players were better than Young. Of course, the biggest difference between Young and most of those players is that Young will be expected to produce. It wasn't such a bad thing having Feliz at 3B when the rest of the IF had the best players in Phillies history at each position.

Also, Amaro must think Revere has the biggest range in the history of the game.

Young had an OPS + of 124 two years ago as a 24 year old. He even finished 10th in the MVP race. Very few guys on that list did anything close to that ever.

Young was signed for 750 K. I don't think he is the key to the season. Hamels, Lee, Halladay, Utley, Howard. Rollins, Chooch, and a bunch of other guys will determine the Phillies fate this year.

Young is a depth move who has a half assed chance to have a Juan Pierre good type season. I'm not counting on it though.

Feel like if you can get Bourn on a reasonable three year deal he becomes a huge trade asset too.

According to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the Braves are "waiting to hear" back from the Diamondbacks about their trade offer for outfielder Justin Upton.
ESPN's Buster Olney heard from sources on Wednesday afternoon that the offer from the Braves was "strong." But the D'Backs are also in talks with the Orioles about Jason Kubel, so this all could take a little while to fully shake out. Upton, 25, hit .280/.355/.430 with 17 homers, 18 steals and 67 RBI in 150 games last year for Arizona. He would be joining his brother B.J. in Atlanta.

if the braves get upton we're screwed again

it's sad that this is the best offseason amaro could come up with as the window for this group closes. the nationals are the best team in baseball. the braves are better, much more so if they get justin upton. it feels like everything will have to go right for the phillies to even play on the road in a one game playoff. if the deadline comes and they are treading water it'd be best to move some of their pieces if they are healthy and performing (halladay, utley, papelbon).
