right but no one was disputing how young the braves are. they are one of the youngest in baseball. phils should be compared to another team viewed as a contender. its possible halladay/utley and young and maybe ruiz are gone end of year...if so...team isnt that old...and will have money to spend on FA to get younger. I dont think its this doomsday we are ancient situation that everyone keeps talking about. I envy the braves situation no doubt

Why "should" the Phils be compared to another team? The Braves are one of their two main competitors.

FA's tend to make your roster older, not younger. The best way to get younger is through your farm system.

Whatever you think of Sports Final, we will be consensus 3rd place pick in our division by pretty much everyone including fan surveys. There may be a sprinkling of people who give us the 2nd wildcard based on starting pitching.

The only way you can justify us ahead of the Braves is luck, injuries (to Was/Atl) or unlikely rebound seasons by old players. Any or all of that may happen, but if you're paid to make educated forecasts you gotta put us 3rd and (less obviously) out of the playoffs.

I honestly don't think the idea of "crossing our fingers that everything goes right" is the wrong strategy, but it's still depressing and I sure as hell don't want Amaro in charge with all the money coming off the books after 2013
