There is literally zero chance that anyone is paying anywhere near that amount for the Phillies broadcast rights.
I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

Eskin just mentioned on FOX about the Phils being interested in Pagan. He had a sit down with Rube this past week.

Also said they were interested in Madson but we know that ain't happening.

Well, the Dodgers deal is over 25 seasons. So ~280M per season, which seems a little high for Phillies rights, even considering the ratings situation. I don't even know who the second bidder would be to drive the price up around here for Comcast. The only thing for the Phillies to drive the price up would be to start their own network.

Well, there is another idea, I don't know what the deal is between Fox and CSN, but if Fox really wants to keep snatching up rights deals, they could start Fox Sports Philly. With the Phillies as the centerpiece, and the Sixers getting tired of getting shifted to TCN in favor of Flyers games whenever their deal comes up, it wouldn't be the most ridiculous idea.

Hope so. With FiOS and satellite as real competitors you'd think it would be possible for a challenger to emerge. It would suck if a local sort of but not quite monopoly (and ownership's reluctance to think outside the box) relegated us to second tier status in the TV contract game. Maybe Comcast will pay above board just to prevent that from happening.

i hope too, just dont see it happening...Outside the Sixers,Flyers, and Phillies games i pretty much ignore CSN Philly....Their coverage of college sports is terrible. They hardly show college football on saturday afternoons, and when they do its usually the CAA and not always Nova games....not sure they realize there isnt much interest in watch James Madison play New Hampshire in this area. They do show some CUSA games on tape delay which is another meaningless act as no one cares about a 2nd tier conference replay. I know they lost some live games they used to show thanks to the Pac 12 network but there are many games they can pick up from the Big East, ACC, Big 12, etc that will have much better appeal than a couple non local FCS schools or some crappy programming about PA Harness Racing or Mike Vick working out both i believe were on yesterday in the early afternoon. Sadly their college hoops programing isnt much better which is insane when you have 6 D1 teams in the city. They could also show some live Euro soccer matches during the weekday afternoons and early weekend mornings....while i dont know how those TV rights work out but im pretty sure i've seen other Regional sport networks showing them.

I think if this was the ownership of 10 years ago, we'd be in trouble. But all indications are that the loudest voices now are the ones that like money and winning, in no particular order. I feel like every owner with a TV deal coming up is salivating over these mega contracts.

There's plenty of sports in this town to sustain a second network. Comcast should've turned TCN into a true second network years ago, because they probably would have eliminated this threat if TCN was anything more than an overflow channel.

If any company is going to come in and fuck with Comcast, it's Fox. They're the only one that really makes sense because they can mix in their national programming with the local stuff. Even more so if they end up getting a piece of the new Big East deal. They could make a deal with the A-10 too, way better than what CSN provides now. The one thing Fox really doesn't have is the major East Coast markets, and if they put a network here after buying YES network, that's a huge move into the East Coast with it's two top markets.
