Upton: On a scale of 1-10, a 6.5-7 chance they're going to get him is his gut feeling. He's the priority and the Phils get their guy. He's from Norfolk, VA which isn't too far.

Justin Upton: Sure they've had multiple conversations about him. But they're frustrated by the posturing with him and doesn't think they have the talent load to get him.

Endorse this along with a bullpen guy coming off an injury that you get discounted.

Soria or Mike Adams

Youk

Upton

then as someone may have said earlier..maybe you go Nix or Schierholtz with Ruf platoon in left...and Brown and Mayberry in RF platoon

could be worse i guess.

That looks like a hell of a squad to me, if Youk can hack 3B even most of the time. And we actually have some nice utility/3B depth

Gotta say I'm loving the bullpen approach if what Salisbury says holds true.

agree....8th inning guy is pretty important..going cheap and getting guy off injury could blow up in his face again. amaro openly said he didnt put enough effort into pen last year.

Looks great to me, especially if it clicks for Brown.

With that lineup, I can hope this is the year Charlie breaks up Utley/Howard.

this was interesting. he said he's doing it to keep stress off the shoulder which makes sense i guess

It's interesting how underworked/appreciated the core is for guys that "are in great shape".

Guys that are "lean and strong" may not be doing any core work, and especially for a rotational type of profession (throwing, swinging, etc) every bit of power starts with the core stabilizers. If those are underdeveloped, the rest of the kinetic chain has to make up for the lack of power, leading to overuse/strain, etc.

I always find it odd when I hear that athletes are adding core work - don't that have professional trainers guiding them?

the profusely sweating thing was strange. i don't remember that happening the two years before. i know he was in toronto and lived in colorado but it was strange nonetheless

He had a few isolated incidents the previous years but it seemed consistent last year. Red faced in the first inning even on cool days. Plus the absence for personal reasons.

Could just be he was training/working too hard at his age. Who knows
