Obviously, this is a long way from being as impressive as the AAA, AA, and low-A teams in the Philadelphia-area... but it's $#@!-ing Tampa/St. Pete, basically, where the local fans don't even bother much with the young, exciting, playoff-bound Rays. Impressive that they continue to grow in that area, if you ask me.

It's worth noting that the FSL has truly horrible attendance and would not exist if not for MLB parent clubs owning most of the franchises and absorbing the losses (northern MLB teams want at least one southern affiliate for rehab purposes, plus they can more easily justify the spring training stadiums politically). The Threshers are an awesome draw for that league and are normally first in attendance. There are teams in that league that draw 500-600 people per game.

the phillies and this other group are still just in talks with pfizer for the property. so it isnt a done deal yet. it came out in the press so the politicians could start answering questions about it and gain support for it.

there is something with the sewer payment that is a big deal and the phils/other group are the only group willing to pay for that where others are not. so they have a leg up and are right now in exclusive negotiations with pfizer.

Williamsport is probably the target. Nobody has more than one team in any of the top four levels, so if they jumped to the Carolina League, they'd have to dump Clearwater...

Williamsport is for sure who the Phillies want to bring here. But the local powers that be want a longer season so it is still up in the air

I probably won't be living here much longer, but I'm kinda sad they want to move from Williamsport. That town has had three affiliates in ten years, and the Phillies do a great job with the hot stove dinner up here. Also, I have the same issue with when they moved from Scranton... the Phillies should be the jewel of Pennsylvania, not just Philadelphia. Having a minor league team around helps the fan base, IMO. And the Yankees have proven that S/W-B isn't Yankee-land as much as was thought.
Together we will win this game against the evil Space Yankees! Eat Fresh!

Chester County is one of the wealthiest counties in the state/nation. Good idea if they want to make more money IMO.

If we sweep, shut eem down as long as possible, then give him a few days at the end of the regular season to try to get his timing back.

i know its irrational, but id prefer to keep valdez in.

defensively, he's been as good (and dare I say) or better than Rollins.

He's not as good offensively, then again, he's playing at 100%, and I wonder if Rollins' health will impact him mentally, as in, he's thinking about an injury or aggravating his injury, which could impact his play overall.

If he's 100%, or like 95%, then he should play. But Valdez has been a freaking rock.

I actually agree with you, but I might have been too much of a pussy to post it. I still believe what separates them if we were to put Rollins back in is Rollins' superiority on the basepaths. That is, if he's not limited due to his leg. I'd still get Rollins back in there, somewhere other than leadoff, but I wouldn't really get down if Valdez kept playing. He's doing an above serviceable job.

Part of the discussion is the fact that, for whatever reason, Chooch's numbers are much better at #7 (which is where he'll bat so long as Valdez is in). But I still like Rollins at the plate in a tight game.
