Dear Billy Wagner,

I am a Lutheran pastor who is frustrated with the congregation he is serving because the people all hate each other. I am going to take those frustrations out on you.
I shouldn't be outraged by what you said yesterday. You have proven yourself, time and time again, to be an insufferable snot who thinks only of yourself. You said once of your teammates on the Mets, "I guess they will have to suck on this one," in regards to a loss. You caused problems in Philadelphia when you were here. Somehow, unbelievably so, you couldn't understand playful booing from the authentic thing, in regards to when you failed to throw 100 MPH and the crowd jokingly booed. Hopefully now you understand.

Still, you filled me with intense anger. It is probably displaced because I cannot flip out at congregants lest I lose my job. So, here goes:

Billy Wagner, I want to fight you.

I want to meet you somewhere, a place and time of mutual agreement, and engage in fisticuffs. I would prefer if no weaponry would be used. But I want to fight you.

If you win, I will kiss your rear end. If I win, you will shut up and never speak to the media again.

Much regards,
Rev. Beezer

it is definitely not lakewood. the phillies want it to be williamsport or they might just create a whole new team that would play in the carolina league.

hopefully, this will be the year we combine a wfc (80,08) with in season excellence (76,77,93) for the total domination double.

Good job Calvin. So what about that offer for the team? They taking it?

I hope we destroy their soul and they drop out of the playoffs, as much fun as it would be to play them in the NLCS and sweep them.

The Phils have really become a total brand. Further proof: The Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs led ALL of minor league baseball in attendance in 2010, at an avergae crowd of 9,227/game.

Meanwhile, the Reading Phillies just had a four-year run as Eastern League attendance leaders snapped, but their per game attendance only dropped by 63/game this season: they still brought in 6,615. The Reading Phillies had not only won the Eastern League attendance crown four years running, they had won it 7 of the last 8 years.

The Lakewood BlueClaws won their 10th consecutive South Atlantic League attendance title this year, including 24 sellouts. They averaged 6,171 fans/game.

All three of these teams are, roughly speaking, in the Philadelphia metro area. Reading and Allentown are no more than an hour and a half away, and more like an hour and fifteen minutes as long as everything is moving OK; Lakewood might be a bit of a stretch, but you can get there from the turnpike pretty freaking fast if it's not an in-season Friday. Remarkably, if you add their average attendance/game together, these three Phillies minor league affiliates are drawing 22,013/game - or more than seven teams in major league baseball, including our long-since departed Athletics.

And now the Phillies are moving a fourth minor league team to the area (West Chester), to add to their total hegemony over this densely populated region of the country. You really have to credit the Phillies as a top-down organization: they have leveraged their success at the MLB level and the fact that this is the biggest market with only one team to maximize their brand. It's impressive.

Also worthy of note: the Clearwater Threshers established, for a fifth consecutive season, a franchise-record attendance figure, at 172,726 fans for the season over 71 dates, an average of 2,433 fans/game. Obviously, this is a long way from being as impressive as the AAA, AA, and low-A teams in the Philadelphia-area... but it's fuck-ing Tampa/St. Pete, basically, where the local fans don't even bother much with the young, exciting, playoff-bound Rays. Impressive that they continue to grow in that area, if you ask me.

I asked about this in the game thread. It really didn't do anything either. Just sat and watched the game. No real cheering or trying to stand up and get on camera more. Weird.

But I definitely would say to all the kids out there, 'Kids, it's a bad word. Don't say it. And I'm dead serious.' "

My first thoughts were that Jayson Werth's Beard's twitter account may indeed be authentic.
