The real question is whether his shares with the Rangers and Giants will result in more than a full share total.

Brian Cashman is crazy. Though not crazy enough to sign Jeter for over 45 million.

At some point in his life Barry bonds is probably going to be pissed off that he didn't get 3000 hits and 2000 RBI (maybe now, I dunno).

Good for Adam Dunn and glad he is out of the NL. I hope he leads the AL in walks, strikeouts, and OPS+. All's anybody cares about are the strikeouts.

The Pirates were close to a trade for J.J. Hardy on Thursday night, reports Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com. Pittsburgh is known to have an interest in Hardy and could still work out a deal given that the Twins tendered Hardy a contract.

well i'm glad the pirates have a plan, although its a really strange misguided one

hardy's career has taken a ridiculous turn

2007: 638 PA .277/.323/.463 - 30 2B - 26 HR - 80 RBI - 40 BB - .279 BABIP
2008: 629 PA .283/.343/.478 - 31 2B - 24 HR - 74 RBI - 52 BB - .305 BABIP

2009: 465 PA .229/.302/.357 - 16 2B - 11 HR - 47 RBI - 43 BB - .260 BABIP
2010: 375 PA .268/.320/.394 - 19 2B - 6 HR - 38 RBI - 28 BB - .299 BABIP

His swing has a bunch of moving parts. I wonder if his issues are simply mechanical at this point. He was on a positive trajectory in 2007/2008, his age 24/25 seasons. And he was a solid defender as well. Then he fell apart in 2009. He was unlucky on balls in play, and I think he started pressing and trying to make up for a slow start. Last year surely wasn't a whole lot better.

Pirates are wise to take a flier on him. He turned 28 in August. He's still a good defender I think. If he can find his swing again, he'd be a great option for a team like Pittsburgh.

Is Vlad Guerrero a possiblity at all for the Phillies, if they don't resign Werth?

I did see that, I was thinking maybe it was rust. I don't get how a 35yo man, not exactly old, with 179 career SBs could become so slow and unathletic.

He wasn't a particularly good fielder even in Montreal, despite being faster when he was younger.

His grasp of political theory and world history are stunning:

First of all, the reason the Second Amendment was put into place was to keep the government from controlling the people. History will tell you everything. Just look at anywhere else in the world. Look at Russia, look at Eastern Europe, look at South America. Gun control means control. It means control for the government and the government starts controlling the people.
