I never noticed how before how badly the Rangers ripped off the Expos:

I love how Scott talks about how he can show his birth certificate, but Obama can't. Followed by the editors posting Obama's birth certificate.

Of the top twenty years of team average HBP, 13 of them occur between 1887 and 1900. Every other one occurred between 2001-2007.

During the knock 'em down era of mean pitchers like Early Wynn, Bob Gibson and Don Drysdale and every pitcher routinely "flipped" hitters (Who were trying to take food away from the pitcher's family or so they all said), guys didn't get hit by pitches much.

Back when guys expected to get buzzed they were better at getting out of the way of one heading towards their body. Except for Ron Hunt and Don Baylor of course -- but they had grit and moxie.
Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

You still hear a lot about how pitchers don't pitch inside these days, and I suppose it's possible you see fewer "purpose" pitches. But obviously someone's throwing inside or they wouldn't be hitting these guys.It would be interesting to try to figure out the effect of different generations of body armor on the game. Hunt was nut and Baylor was made of cast iron, but I don't think there's ever been an era where getting hit by a pitch is so big a conscious piece of of so may players' games (except maybe the 1890s).

Rangers reminded Lee too much of his ill-fated original organization, pushing him to Phillies!!!!!

I feel like I'm just about the last person in the world to discover the flipflopflyball site, but it seems like it's always worth checking out now and again.

I think the next step now is for the Phillies to eliminate anything not directly related to the game on the field. Bobbleheads, t-shirt days, the Phanatic...

New attitude: Here we are. Come, but only if you can afford $12 for a beer and $20 to park, minimally.
