Things about Baseball which could be interpreted as random

So it's 40 at game time, and 35 by the end. That's still really #$&%ing cold for baseball.

I think this is interesting because we might have an early test here of the wisdom of an open-air stadium in Minnesota should they make the World Series. Games would have to be played there into November.

Weather.com says the average high temperature for October 31st in Minneapolis is 50 degrees, so maybe it won't be so bad, but...

better check the lows, as teevee would probably still insist games be played at night

Good point.

32 degrees farenheit. 32 is the average.

Bad point, low temperatures 95% of the time occur right before daybreak.
So it'll depend on who's pitching...

Also, 50 and 32 are the average high and low. That means about 50% of the temperatures that AREN'T exactly 50 and 32 will be below both of those numbers - meaning that it's entirely possible that players might be asked to go out in sub-freezing temperatures.

Hooray for the wildcard and November baseball though. And building an outdoor park in Minny fuck-ing apolis

The last time the Twins played a WS game was October 27, 1991. Three days later...

The largest snowstorm to affect most of the Twin Cities area was the Halloween Blizzard on October 31 – November 2, 1991. Officially, 28.4 inches (72 cm) of snow was reported at the Twin Cities airport.

This year the WS starts on October 27th. Someone should ask Pedro if they can borrow his snowmobile.

On the other hand, I thought I heard something about a heating system in that park. I don't know how you heat an open air baseball field, but that's what I heard.

More likely the average temp at 7 central is 47-43 and 38-42 at the end of the game on average.

Wow pretty crazy. Interim manager or real replacement?

Can I start the "Torre for Braves!" bandwagon?

Torre should just retire before he does any further damage to his legacy, i.e., exposes himself for the fraud he's always been.

Legacy > 6mm check from the Cubs for next season?

His results from the Dodgers on paper are pretty good too. Two NLCS in a row. Just ran into some really cool, handsome, all-time great teams

There will be no defending Joe Torre in my presence.

Note that I would love for him to be the next manager of one of our rivals- Braves esp- because he really is kind of an idiot, and would definitely finish the job Bobby Cox started this year in tearing Venters' arm to shreds
