That is a smart play though.

Watch the slow-mo closely, and focus on his lead (left) elbow. I think the ball might glance off of it before it hits the bat. I think that would explain Jeter's reaction. I don't think anyone's that good an actor.

I think your eyes are playing tricks on you. Jeter admitted it never hit him.

That Brian Wilson video is epic.

This does not seem all that random on closer inspection but where else to put it?

A Secret to the Twins’ Success: Avoiding Walks

[Twins' pitching coach Rick Anderson's] staff...has issued by far the fewest walks in the majors since his first season in Minnesota. The Yankees have the second fewest walks in those nine seasons — a staggering 704 more than the Twins through Wednesday.

This year has been more of the same. The Twins have issued 325 walks; only the Philadelphia Phillies, with 373, are within 75 of them. Staffs have averaged 472 walks this season.

I think it hit the bat first, then hit him. He knew it hit the bat and said so. Its not a huge deal except for the massive overacting after he was awarded 1st base.

You know, those aren't the Twins of 2002 or something in the AL anymore. They've got a big-time payroll, and a record to match. Now 30 games over, with the 3rd best run differential in baseball.

I think this is interesting because we might have an early test here of the wisdom of an open-air stadium in Minnesota should they make the World Series. Games would have to be played there into November.

Weather.com says the average high temperature for October 31st in Minneapolis is 50 degrees, so maybe it won't be so bad, but...

better check the lows, as teevee would probably still insist games be played at night

After a 4-game sweep at Citi, the Pirates have a road record of 15-59. The last week of the season they have 3 at St. Louis and 4 at Florida, so the all-time worst road record of 18-62 (1962 Mets) could be in jeopardy...
