He was hurt in 2007. Apparently really worked on his delivery/pitches while rehabbing and turned into an ace in 2008.

What else is nice about this is that teams know they can't screw around with Rube. The dark days of Ed Wade are officially gone, and our front office should be taken seriously.

Yep. I linked to Will Carroll's comments on that earlier.

When he really was struggling, they completely shut him down, and while he was rehabbing he studied lots of old video and corrected the mechanical flaws in his delivery.

ERA+ of 143 this year. The Indians are 25th in the bigs in Defensive Efficiency, the Phillies are 11th, so he gets a bump there. His home/road splits aren't drastic at all (3.00 at home, 3.27 road), and lefties have a .511 OPS against him this year. His BABIP against RHB is .345, thats slightly high.

He has two starts this year where he's been bombed (7 ER both times), one of them in the first start of the year. If you remove his first start, his line is

147 IP - 2.82 ERA - 102 K - 32 BB

He doesn't walk anyone and is murder on lefties. Hes gonna be juuuust fine.

Imagine if the Phillies had thrown in another prospect or two and received Victor Martinez as well.

Heyman will be on WIP in a few.

Eskin is just embarrassing. Keeps whining that the Phillies "didn't do what's best for the franchise over the next two years". Doesn't care about prospects. "Before Cole Hamels, the Phillies had never developed a two time all star pitcher" (some nonsense guage of quality he came up with).
