I think he stays draft-eligible until he goes undrafted by all 30 teams in a year, then he can sign anywhere as a UDFA. Matt Harrington was drafted 3 or 4 times and never signed, then he went undrafted one year and eventually had a tryout with the Cubs before retiring.

More draft updates:

-- Tampa Bay announced they've broken off talks with their 1st and 2nd-rd picks (Washington and Diekroger).
-- Kentrail Davis signed for $1.2M
-- Toronto gave 3rd-rd pick Jacob Marisnick $1M
-- Oakland gave 4th-rd pick Max Stassi $1.5M
-- Arizona gave 7th-rd pick Matt Helm $500K
-- Boston gave 9th-rd pick Kendal Volz $550K
-- Baltimore gave 11th-rd pick Michael Ohlman $995K

Pedro's start in Wrigley for the Phils was the highest rated game on CSN so far this year

Phillies fans obviously enjoy welcoming a Cy Young Award winner. Two weeks ago, Cliff Lee was the curiosity. Last week it was Pedro Martinez whose debut appearance in a Phillies uniform was the occasion for the highest rating of a Phillies game this season on Comcast SportsNet. Viewership not only topped that of any Phils game. It topped the market, giving CSN and the Phillies the largest audience of any show.

That leaves Purke (#14 TEX), Washington (#30 TB) and Paxton (#37 TOR) unsigned, not counting the two independents...

and the Mets signed their top pick, 2nd-rder Steven Matz for $895K

BA now confirming Mayo's report that Texas failed to sign Purke, so they get #15 next year (depending on what Crow does). Mayo says the rumor is that Purke turned down $4M...
