You know what would be awesome of baseball-reference to do? At the bottom of individual team pages - the 2008 Phillies, the 1995 Tigers, etc. - list all of the transactions made by that team during that year (say, from the day after the end of the World Series of the previous year to the day the World Series ends of the year the team is listed under - so the "2008 Phillies" page would show all the 40-man roster transactions the Phillies made from November 1, 2007 to October 29, 2008). this would be just like they list all transactions involving a particular player at the bottom of his page. That way you would always have a handy reference for how a team built itself in season.

The Transactions page for each team already exists. For instance, some keys to the WFC:

October 8, 2007

Joe Thurston granted Free Agency.

October 11, 2007

Released Rod Barajas.

October 19, 2007

Kane Davis granted Free Agency.

October 29, 2007

Abraham Nunez granted Free Agency.

Jose Mesa granted Free Agency.

I will still never know why he pitched the 7th inning of that game in Florida that one time. Awful.

What are the Phils going to do with Michael Taylor? I really really hope he isn't traded but as it stands now he's blocked in RF until after 2010 and LF and 1B until after the 2011 season. Unless he learns how to play 3B overnight, realistically I think the Phils only have a few choices:

1. Trade Taylor
2. Trade Werth
3. I don't know if this is even a legit option but arranging some kind of time-share with Victorino and Werth in CF depending on matchups. I remember him playing there a few times last year and he did better than I would have guessed but he also froze up like a deer in headlights and misplayed a few balls, too.

Ibanez isn't close to being as bad as advertised defensively- so far at least- but he isn't a candidate to play CF (nor will he be traded) so he is locked in to playing a corner OF position. So what do they do?

He's only 23, so they'll probably just wait. Utley and Howard were 26 by the time they were used as regulars. Ibanez will be 39 in 2011, so at best, he's probably going to at least have a bunch of days off although by then, Werth will be a free agent.

I'm thinking they'll keep him in the minors as an injury backup plan for 2010, then call him up full time to replace whoever in 2011.
