3 Points on TMac RE the vitriol

1 He isn't a fan, and doesn't hide it
2 His calls are terrible
3 He really does not seem to be very interested in the baseball being played.

1) Bull.
2) I find him and his calls to be generic. Really nothing to get upset about.
3) Sounds like most other announcers.

TMac blows, but spend 5 minutes listening to the Reds broadcst of Thom Brenneman and Jeff Brantley and you'll want to commit seppuku
I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

I generally like Thom, but Brantley just ruins the entire broadcast.

If I could piss in Thom Brenneman's hollowed out skull, I would do it twice

Yup. This is what I think,

Announcers are pretty much generic to me. Usually, I'm not even listening all that much. I was really spoiled by Bill, Byrum, Whitey and Harry when I was young. They were so great. Now most of them sound pretty much the same to me.

There are probably some guys who are really good today -- Niehaus here in Seattle is great. But mostly I don't even care. The old Atlanta TBS crew with Carey the younger was awful because they were so whiny and the Braves killed the Phils all the time. Other than that, it doesn't matter much.
Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

This. Franzke isn't Harry. Graham wasn't Harry. LA and Sarge aren't Harry. To some extent, I like/liked them all. McCarthy is just flat-out awful.

That one give the Pratt call a run for its money, and they are both priceless. Also, Graham and LA had a rapport themselves when they were on the air together; I enjoyed listening to them together as much as I enjoy listening to Franzke and LA. If anything, Franzke and LA are slightly worse, because they, at times, seem so infatuated with each other and whatever little un-aired joke they've got running between them in the booth that they kind of forget to call the game. This is only a minor criticism; on the whole, I enjoy Franzke and LA very much.

Remember that Floppy rumor that Scott Graham became jealous of Franzke's and LA's chumminess? I wonder if he was BSing us or if there was anything to that.

I realize the Graham ship has sailed, but it's a crying shame, because whenever I think of those two just flat-out tremendous HR calls he made in 2003 & 2005 on Pratt's and Bell's big flies, I want to punch Tom McCarthy in the face.

Brings a hockey cadence to baseball, which doesn't really work. Of course, maybe with more practice, he will become better. I already like him better than Met-fan Tom McCarthy, but he is the least good of all the broadcasters other than McCarthy.

That call is spectacular. As was the Pratt HR call from 2003. And he and Andersen had a good thing going when they worked together.

who has audio of this Pratt call.....I know someone here does. step up

nice, thx.

I miss Graham. Franzke is fine, but I would have loved to hear Graham's excitement for the playoff runs. He just missed out.

How much longer does TMAC's contract run? That is our remaining time in hell

So it looks like he's the announcer until the world ends. Great.

Maybe they'll get Dutch to join in on color commentary.
