I'll always remember hudson fondly for that '83 playoff game, especially when Hudson k'd Greg Brock with some rising heat.

I have less than fond memories of Charles because he pitched the last playoff game I saw in person, Game 5 of the 1983 WS. Luckily, after this weekend, that will no longer be the last playoff game I saw in person.

I try to block the '83 WS from my memory.

Tad bit off topic but:

Manny Ramirez-OF- Dodgers Oct. 7 - 9:58 am et

The Rocky Mountain News reports that "agent Scott Boras has let it be known through his media outlets that the expectation is for at least five years and $85 million in a deal for" Manny Ramirez.

A five-year contract would involve committing to Ramirez through his age-41 season, so that's going to be a very tough sell. Something along the lines of three years and $50 million seems more likely.

Me too, without success. Hoping that this year does the trick.

my friends, I enjoyed this

Matt (Philly): I see you're taking the Phillies in 7. I always got the impression that you hated the Phillies so I'm really surprised (1980?). Even more surprised that you're the only analyst that picked them. What's your logic behind it?

SportsNation Rob Neyer: I can't really be the only one who picked them. Can I? My logic is that they won more games, had a better run differential, and played tougher competition during the season. Oh, and they're the home team in the series. What's the logic behind picking the Dodgers?

Why, you got something better to do tonight?
they were a chick hanging out with her friends at a bar, the Phillies would be the 320 lb chick with a nose wart and a dick - Trent Steele

he's supposed to be objective. he can neither love nor hate the Phillies. i know this flies in the face of how most of ESPN's analysts act, but believe it or not, Neyer is actually doing the right thing in this case.

No, I have nothing to do tonight, which is why I wished there was a Phillies game on.

I just got a txt message from Cole and he is totally fired up for tomorrow night. Told me he could probably pitch a perfect game, but instead he'd rather bean Manny in the collar bone a couple times just for poops and grins
you sure do seem to have a lot of time on your hands to be on this forum? Do you have a job? Are you a shut-in?

According to Springfield resident and psychic Crystal Shadows, the Fightin' Phils will be in it longer than their opponents, the Los Angeles Dodgers.
"They will beat L.A.," Shadows said.
Shadows advised that the opener of the series with the Dodgers "will not be a boring game," and that she sees either a major injury or a game-affecting adjustment.
"It's not going to be a Phillies injury," she said. "It may be an adjustment, like what they are doing isn't making sense and they need to try something different. It will be something unusual or interesting. There will be a slickness about it, like someone will try to pull something."

Shadows has been accurate in past sports predictions for the Daily Times. She accurately predicted both the sad outcome of Super Bowl XXXIX, when the Eagles lost to the Patriots, as well as Terrell Owens' meltdown and subsequent release from the Eagles in 2005.
"I'm not really a sports person," she said. "But I have gone two-for-two with my sports predictions in the Daily Times in the past. I hope I can make it three for three!" she laughed.

"The difference between being psychic and psychotic is whether or not your little voices are right," she said.

But I definitely would say to all the kids out there, 'Kids, it's a bad word. Don't say it. And I'm dead serious.' "

OMG! OMG! I CAN'T WAIT. I AM PUMPED, PUMPED, PUMPED!

PHILLIES! PHILLIES! PHILLIES!

I was cool throughout the NLDS, but I'm pretty worked up now. Not quite off the charts yet, but getting close. Trying not to peak too soon.
