Phillies vs Dodgers: NLCS Discussion

Postby CrashburnAlley » Thu Oct 09, 2008 01:20:25

A bit of reality, per Baseball Think Factory:

Also, even just looking at the whole season, BPro have the Dodgers at 88-89 3rd order wins, ie pythag wins based on EQR / EQA, adjusted for strength of opponents. They have the Phillies at 86-87 wins.

2nd order wins, pythag wins based on just run components, ie EQA / EQR, Dodgers at 91-92, Phillies at 87-88.

So why are so many pundits picking the Dodgers?

My guess... many "pundits" are hoping for a Dodgers / Red Sox World Series. The Manny story line, "Manny Past" / "Manny Present".

I really like the fact that almost everyone is picking the dodgers... The dodgers have to know this and are going into this series with all the pressure...

Doesn't anyone realize throwing all righties against us actually counts for something....

All this "OMG LOWE BILLINGSLEY KURODA GONNA OWN PHILLIES"

its just not happening...

and their pen you ask??? im definitely not scared of this guy, and neither is ryan howard or chase utley...

Couldn't get through on WMMR. The number you had to guess was 1,784,395 to win tickets.

check road home splits since he's been in LA. itll make you feel better.

His last 10 starts, including the last one at Wrigley, seem more relevant

Not that I don't think we can't get to him and/or Hamels can't outpitch him

I posted the full schedule of events somewhere up-thread

My mom told me stories of my Dad puking before an Eagles playoff game (1960?). It sounded ridiculous but my stomach is not feeling that great right now.

Post-game party across the street?

Comcast-Spectacor is offering a free ticket to either the 76ers' or Phantoms' game tomorrow to anyone who presents a ticket stub from Game 2 of the National League Championship Series between the Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers at Citizens Bank Park.

Comcast-Spectacor owns the Sixers and Phantoms.

The Sixers will play the New York Knicks in a preseason game at the Wachovia Center. The Phantoms will play the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in a regular-season game at the Wachovia Spectrum.

Both games start at 7. The Phillies' game starts at 4:35.
