Phillies vs Dodgers: NLCS Discussion

Wow, his analysis was very good throughout, and arguably favoring the Phils. And then he goes Dodgers in five. That just doesn't make sense to me.

"I tell all kids not to use that word. If they're 29 and they win the World Series, I think they can say that.
But I definitely would say to all the kids out there, 'Kids, it's a bad word. Don't say it. And I'm dead serious.' "

It's fine. I usually can't eat during close Giants games. I didn't eat Sunday till after the Phillies and Giants were done. Being nauseous means it's a big game, which is good.

What do you expect, our best hitter is a platoon player

as are our OPS machine corner outfielders

[for reference, Burrell's OPS vs. RHP this season: .843; Werth's: .767]

Utley hit a very soft .292/.390/.465 -- .855 OPS in the second half. He's no Blake DeWitt, that's for sure.

Law is just making a guess here. The Dodgers in 5 is as good a guess as any.

To me. Myers could be the key. Good Myers gives the Phils a pretty good 1-2 punch at the top of the rotation. Bad Myers gives the Phils one Ace and three big question marks.

By contrast

Matt Kemp splits: (avg/ops)

vs. LHP .369/.989
vs. RHP .260/.725

Andre Ethier splits: (avg/ops)
vs. LHP .243/.692
vs. RHP .326/.953

James Loney splits: (avg/ops)
vs. LHP .249/.664
vs. RHP .305/.815

All three of these players have bigger splits than Burrell. Jayson Werth's low-end split vs. RHP is higher than any of these three players' low-end split (.767) and his high-end is higher than any of theirs (1.020). Loney, as it seems, just isn't that good at all.

And he wants us to platoon Burrell and Werth with Matt Stairs who has a .254/.762 split against RHP this year. Worse than either of them!

Law works hard to try to seem smart, but more often than not talks like he has a paper assole.

Five hours to go? Still?

This better be a quick series. I'm not sure my heart can take 6 or 7 games.

2B-L Chase Utley (62.3)
1B-L Ryan Howard (35.2)
LF-R Pat Burrell (33.4)
CF-S Shane Victorino (33.4)

Jeebuz, that's quite a VORP dropoff with the last two.
