Iguchi, who also has extensive experience at shortstop and has played a few games at third, said he won't have any objection to being a role player when Utley returns.

Iguchi could end up seeing time at third base, a position that's virtually foreign to him.
“That's a possibility,” Manuel said. “Right now, I want him to concentrate on playing second, but that's something he could work on eventually.”
Iguchi says his only time at third base was playing a few minor-league rehab games there in Japan.
“If the proper procedures are taken, I'll do what I can to help the team win,” Iguchi said.
In other words, Iguchi is willing if he gets some practice at third base before being thrown there in a game.
“We'll probably let him take some ground balls and throw across the diamond, see how he looks over there,” Manuel said. “He's mostly played second. I'd like to see how he throws and how he reacts. It's a reaction more than range.”

A second baseman and shortstop in his eight seasons in Japan’s Pacific League, Iguchi has played all but one of his 372 Major League games at second base. According to Gillick that fact isn’t going to change as long as Iguchi is a Phillie.
“I would say it’s a very remote, remote possibility. It’s a different position third base in that you have longer to read the ball at shortstop and second base as opposed to third base which is a reaction position,” Gillick said. “A lot of times people that can play the middle of the diamond have a tough time moving to the corners.”
The Phillies, it seems, are not even willing to experiment in practice with Iguchi.
