I love the fact that voters, by and large, have gotten the messages to vote early and not trust USPS. I feared we wouldn't know the results until around Thanksgiving. Now I am thinking it will be called, if not on Election Night, within a few days.

It's looking grim for PA to allow for "pre-canvassing" (opening ballots before election day). Election officials in the state say they'll be able to get the majority of the vote counted no later than Friday after the election.

Yes. There will be none it seems. Stated a few pages ago, but R leadership wants drop boxes removed or poll watchers from other counties to invade Philadelphia in exchange for pre-canvassing. If it was put to a vote though as just a straight 3 days of pre-canvassing, it would pass. R leadership will not allow for that though.

Yep, I am hoping it is such a landslide that the networks won't even have to wait for PA's results to call it. With that said, I have waited four years, I can certainly wait three extra days. Will keep a bottle of bubbly chilled in anticipation of a cause for celebration.

it seems like people are still being pushed to vote early, though? shouldn't PA Dems move away from that messaging?

At this point there is not a large push to get people signed up for mail in ballots. They are letting people know where they can be dropped off and who to call if you think there is an issue. More of a push to get them returned now, which is what it should be. Frankly, having people spoil their mail in ballot on election day at their polling place to vote in person is going to cause more confusion.

There is the over the counter mail in ballot (apply for a mail in on site, handed ballot, fill it out, return it). People know that is an option but it is not at the center of any messaging I have seen.

And again, voting by mail is safe and your vote counts just as if you showed up in person on Nov. 3.

Thanks pal Cal. And for the record, I am doing something: I went out with Marlene Katz to knock doors on Sunday, and I will do that also today and hopefully tomorrow and over the weekend and as many days as I can next week.

Honestly part of this is I just can't wait for it to be over. I am also afraid that like a team that gets up 24-0 in the first quarter, the Biden campaign has shot its load and now comes the momentum of a healthy Trump revving up his rally engine and all the angry white people doing angry white people things.

The Mrs. and I dropped off our ballots in Pima County yesterday and it was a super simple process. We got a slip of paper with a URL to track our ballot and they had two poll workers and a sheriff's deputy overseeing things.

I read articles on 538 about how Trump is doing better with black and Latino voters this time around and everything depends on white people.

I don't trust white people.

He's out there, with his energy, running big rallies, people are turning out, people are angry and tired of corona, he's telling them they're right, everyone who voted for him in 2016 will do so again, all I see are Trump signs all over Bucks County.

We're fucking doomed.

I suppose the whole "tired of corona" may be effective among his base, but cases are shooting up, and with his decision to go after Fauci isn't going to help him I don't think with anyone outside the base, and likely alienates a large chunk of voters.

Yes all he's doing is going down swinging at everyone but the 38% who are already voting for him. There is no campaign at this point. Its entirely his victimization coming out.

I think Biden is o run up a ridiculous lead in the traditional blue states, but Trump could win close races in a bunch of swing and red states and win this thing. I now Biden is up 10% nationally, but a lot of that lead is in blue states where Trump is EXTREMELY unpopular, much more so then he was in 2016. I think if Trump does win it, it will be with the biggest popular deficit in history.

I don't think we can count of PA. Need AZ + WI + NE2/ME2 or some other combination. Tough to win FL with that FL Gov. Certainly can't count on any of the red states Biden is currently narrowly leading.

I'm just concerned that 10.7 lead is misleading given where it comes from.

Also, he's going to cheat in ways we haven't thought of.

And what's going on in CA? Certainly some weird Trump shit going on there. I'm just afraid the Russians will attack a voting system somewhere and create total chaos. CA would be a crazy place to do it given the makeup of the state, but it certainly would create a huge problem.

Either way we get violence on Nov 4th, I'm afraid.

The fact that Obama is campaigning in Philly means PA is a dead heat.

So happy I voted a few weeks back. All I can do is point and laugh at his gyrations and vitriol. On the active side I am politely asking people to vote in an effort to remind people that their say might be the difference maker. I am not being partisan, but since the people I've talked to all seem rather sane and rational I feel good about their leaning. Most had a plan, several did not realize that the could early vote at the center that opened over the weekend near my house and many thought that would be a comforting idea to go get it out of the way early. Plus side, I am meeting more neighbors in our larger community (I got that assignment through my church to get out the vote in a non-partisan way).

Doesn't this seem a little more like cheer leading? Maybe it is an effort to make sure the reliable voters go to the poles. On the flip side the haters are not going to be moved towards Joe is the big O came calling in hardcore GOP land and in fact might take that as its own call to action.

Not gonna happen. 2000 and 2020 are not comparable. 2000 was a close election, this one will be a landslide.
