there is still a glimmer of hope that state Republicans will allow for some sort of pre-canvassing which would help with the "we won't know on election night" stuff.

I think it’s important people see who they are electing.

I wonder how many voters trump would lose if they actually had to sit down and read the stuff he retweets all day. Most of them would stay obviously but if you’re confronted with the constant barrage with no fox person telling you how to interpret what he’s doing it would become harder for some. Debate is the closest thing we get to that.

Seems like it was a draw at worst. That seems good for Biden at this stage, he’s the front runner. Two more of these without him having a stroke or something and it should be fine.
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

Can't be any worse than this crap show from last night...

I still think the Town Hall format in two weeks will be better...less chance to interrupt...

Can’t share a mic/ podium with COVID restrictions
Fine. You wanna act like you're two? I'll act like I'm one.

They represent counties that have Republicans in control that are begging for it. It's an even larger burden on rural counties who don't have the money or staff to manage it. Sure they'll have fewer to count but it still is a significant lift.

Also, does anyone think that would prevent Trump from running up when it isn’t his turn and shouting over Biden’s shoulder? Just distance them from each other on stage so only one is in a camera shot at a time and turn off their fucking mics when it isn’t their turn to talk. It’s very simple.

Put the microphone on a lower tier so that he has to go down a ramp

If we are giving letter grades to last night's debate I think I would grade it as a C for Biden and a D- for Trump.

Biden was not great by any stretch but he had several really good moments and I thought the direct talk to the voters was a nice touch. As was mentioned above, I thought Biden watched a few pitches right down the middle. He also got flustered a few times which caused him to stammer a bit.

Trump on the other hand was a raving lunatic most of the night. His constant backtalk and interrupting screamed defense. While he landed a few hard punches he was mostly just yelling at clouds. His victim complex was on full display very early on when he started his healthcare plan response to Wallace with "First of all, I guess I'm debating you and not him. But, that's okay, I'm not surprised". Oh, everybody is out to get me. And, of course, his Proud Boys call to arms was inexplicable.

It is hard to imagine that anybody on fence would have been overly impressed by either candidate but it is impossible to imagine that anybody would have settled on Trump after watching that. If someone settled on Trump after last night, they were never really undecided. I agree with the thought above that the town hall format of the next debate will lead to a slightly more controlled event and certainly favors Uncle Joe's style (much like it did Obama). I am probably way off base with this but I think the VP debate might mean a bit more than it usually does this year. I expect that Harris will destroy Pence. Peaking a bit into the future, that may actually be the first debate of the 2024 Presidential election.

The small amount of debate that I watched, I would describe as:

Joe tries to answer a question. Trump interrupts with something. Joe says "well, that's a lie and here is why..." Trump interrupts again. Joe says, "well, THAT'S a lie and here's why..." Repeat.

Chris Wallace did a shitty job as moderator. There was no moderating being done. He needed to stop T from interrupting or they may as well have been reading the questions off of cards.

I’m not sure anyone can properly moderate when one person simply refuses to follow the rules. Hence the cutting the mic.

Yeah the control part was a problem. I think the questions were way worse, however. At points he even told Trump that he thinks he will like the next section. Ummm?

Not to belabor any further, but thought Joe's answer on the election was great and overall thought Joe finished strong. Thought how he pivoted on the suburbs comment on Trump back to COVID-19 was well done. And he goaded Trump into stepping on his dick about the Proud Boy comments.
