I think I don't like the Economist's election model because it reports out its EV simulation results, I think, as aggregate averages rather than as corresponding to a most likely scenario. For example, right now it says Biden will win 329 electoral votes. But I don't think that is because the most likely map gets Biden 329, but rather because that is his average number of EVs across their 20,000 daily simulations is 329, which IMHO is a stupid way to do it.

For example, the only way I can see to get Biden to 329 is to give the ones you'd expect (Clinton + WI, MI, PA), that extra one in ME, plus FL, NC...

and Iowa. I mean, maybe, but is that really the most likely map even in their simulations? I doubt it, which is why I doubt their model.

I guess Clinton + WI, MI, PA, FL, OH, that one in NE, and AZ also gets you to 329. So maybe it is the combo of the two maps?

I think it was understood that when he bankrupted his AC properties that he named himself as a consultant or something like that and gobbled up available funds leaving chicken feed for those he screwed over. So like he liquidated a player piano in the bankruptcy action and basically kept the proceeds while screwing the guy he bought it from and did not pay. dirty as shit stuff, but seemingly legal.

I don't know about in comparison to other rich people with closely held family businesses, but two comments. 1) Paying a person as a management employee and then also paying that person's company as an outside consultant is pretty brazen. Usually its one or the other. 2) In the context of the P&L of his companies, the related party consulting fees aren't even that much and there's not a ton of tax impact on the payor to classify that as an employee expense or a consulting expense. Both are deductible expenses. The main point on this is that its more or less a transfer of weath in an attempt to mitigate the estate tax, but the recipient is still paying income tax on it (presumably), so that impact is even blunted.

The refund from 09 is still under audit and I expect Trump to lose that one if the later ownership of the new company is correct. I can't see JCT signing off on that.

That aged well. FWIW that means Obama paid $162,074 in federal tax (not $162.00 which would be close to if not more then Trump paid).

Trump’s write-offs include $70,000 in hairstyling costs for “The Apprentice,” while much of his charitable giving was in the form of conservation easements, or agreements not to develop certain properties, including land around an estate the Trumps use as a family retreat.

Gotta get in on buying a property then writing off not developing the set back to keep the neighbors away. I am thinking that NBC took care of hair and makeup (especially since the Trump DIY transforms him into The Orangerangatrump).
