Where the hell is the new POLITICS thread?

And on Wednesday, when Mr. Trump sits down with Kim Jong-un, Michael Cohen is to to testify in Congress about his 10 years of service to the Trump family.

I am hearing they selected Vietnam because it is a short hop from Hanoi to Russia.

Hearing the Cohen testimony, will prompt Trump to defect.

Trump should be able to manufacture a pretty good distraction with Kim and Putin's envoy.

The senate parliamentarian found cause to keep the Yemen War measure from coming to the floor. Apparently if the bill is not clean, then it does not require a vote. There was a single amendment put on it by a Republican to keep intelligence relationship with the Saudis, and that keeps it from being voted up or down in the Senate. It will not be taken up at all. The President will not have to veto this.

Gotta keep that money flowing through to the murdering prince. Nonetheless, it is still going to go forward:

The parliamentarian's decision won't ultimately derail a confrontation between Congress and Trump on Saudi Arabia, where tensions are still running high in the wake of Washington Post contributor Jamal Khashoggi's slaying late last year. Though the administration has stood by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, lawmakers largely believe he is responsible for the death of Khashoggi, who was a critic of the Saudi government. A spokesman for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who supports the Yemen resolution, said the senator would be reintroducing the Senate's resolution from late last year, which required the administration to withdraw any troops in or impacting Yemen within 30 days unless they are fighting al Qaeda. "We will reintroduce the clean version that we passed in the Senate last year and send it back to the House for a vote," Josh Miller-Lewis, Sanders's spokesman, told The Hill on Monday evening.

May promising a hard brexit or delay vote. So delay is extremely likely.

Awesome that this is top of page. The zero context works as a simple state of the state.

Mark Harris is not running for NC-9. McCready (sp?) is in. That nicely cleans up some of the controversy.

Hey @MichaelCohen212 - Do your wife & father-in-law know about your girlfriends? Maybe tonight would be a good time for that chat. I wonder if she’ll remain faithful when you’re in prison. She’s about to learn a lot...

Since you are married happily with two college age kids, it would not be an attack or a threat if I told you I would expose the identities of your girlfriends.

This would be a perfectly normal thing to do as a member of the house of Representatives, R flavor.

No problem Mr Cohen.

I just thought I would tell you.

Otherwise you might think it is some sort of threat.

Donald Trump boasted on Monday, without offering any evidence, that his daughter and adviser Ivanka Trump had created “millions of jobs.”

“My daughter has created millions of jobs. I don’t know if anyone knows that, but she’s created millions of jobs,” the president said in a speech to the National Governor’s Association at the White House.

There was a swift reaction from a fair number of folks online, who pointed out Trump has spent much of her working life building upon what her grandfather and father did. The account from Comedy Central's The Daily Show, for instance, tweeted out a passage from Trump's book detailing an anecdote from her childhood, when she forced household staffers to buy lemonade from her stand because it wasn't performing well. "When life gives you lemonade, sell it to the staff. Ivanka Trump on working for what you get," the account tweeted.

"Here is Ivanka Trump's financial disclosure as a White House staffer, full of royalties from dad's businesses. You decide how true a believer she is in working for what you get," tweeted Anand Giridharadas, an author and a Time editor-at-large‏.

Tough week for princess.

I want to hear how Cohen came to be trolling around the Ukraine with a Putin "peace" proposal.

My memory is a bit hazy (much like facts in the WH) but Cohen is not breaking any news in that statement, is he? He essentially confirms things that have already been reported or suspected?

Yes, it does confirm what I speculated on throughout the campaign...that it was a big commercial for the Trump brand and that he had no intention of actually becoming president.

It may be the most bizarre situation in political history. It certainly highlights how susceptible the American public has become to marketing and confirmation bias.

I just wish they could find someone credible to bring him down. Problem is that anyone that was close to Trump is likely not a credible person.

while it's nothing many of us didn't expect, i've never heard nor seen direct racist allegations like that. But alas, we're probably at the point where anyone still in will double down, so this won't move the needle at all.

There's def been the racist angle before, like when it came out he used the "N word' on the set of The Apprentice. Trump's base either doesn't care or think like him
