PIZZA is the New Orange

I'll order dominos for my kids parties or if I'm too lazy to go pick it up since they are the only place that delivers here. Hopefully our new place will have more delivery options.

Tbf to dominos, it is a lot better than it used to be.

I'd sooner eat Domino's pizza than a meal at Olive Garden. It's still good, it's just so much less than it could be.

It's pizza as a commodity.

I confess a soft spot for the lousy yuge slices at Costco.

Finally made it to Beddia. $27 for a pie with sausage.

Stood in line for 10 minutes, placed order, came back to get my pie in 2 hours. Not really convenient for suburban visitors.

The pizza is truly superb. The crust was amazing - so thin, yet so rigid. Toward the cornicione, dense and chewy with some good air pockets. The sauce was a role player under a big payload of fresh white mozz and orange "Old Gold" gouda.

Is it better than Pizza Brain? About the same, but I'd love to try them side by side.

It is better than an average La Porta pie, but not the best La Porta pie.

I think the mystique is part of the appeal. "Hard to get" excellent pizza like this gets more headlines than easy to get excellent pizza like Pizza Brain.

Other than the occasional italian place, pizza here sucks.

PIcco is the best pizza in Boston, but one block away is another wonderful place, Coppa, with wonderful apps & salads and top-flite pies like this one with bone marrow and a fried egg:

Lucali is the Brooklyn pizzeria favored by Beyoncé and Jay-Z. It is shuttered indefinitely, but Tony Lucali's brother is making the same awesome Neapolitan hybrid at Giuseppina's in Park Slope.

VIA 313 is unbelievably good. Hoping this Gutt guy is similar but he seems to have pop-ups pretty infrequently.

Tony's Place in Mayfair makes an old-school throwback tomato pie. Thin cracker-y crust, mozz first, then a ton of deep red sauce that is steaming when it comes to the table. It was a great bar pie, but not "gotta have it" stuff. Great ambiance, seems like a perfect place for beer and pizza after a softball game.

Absurdly cheap - a sausage pizza, a beer, and an iced tea was under $20 with tax.

That's good shit right there, homie. I had dinner there during a bachelor party. I think it came to $15 a head, including beer.

Nice.

I forgot to mention, you walk in and the smell is intoxicating. A blend of cooking tomato sauce and good bread baking. It's what pizza smelled like in 1965.

took a low-carb pie crust into the bar last night and had them make a pizza on it

not great, but acceptable given the constraints

chefs make things a certain way bc it tastes good-- it is their art. you dont ask other creatives to paint a certain way or frame a photo this way or that. you are paying them to create!

just make your own pizza at home.
