Halladay is leading the local news in Philly.

If they were looking to save $9M, they should have just non-tendered Blanton and Durbin, rather than dump Lee for a deaf outfielder and a French-Canadian with bad mechanics. I don't think these rumors are 100% accurate...

Drabek, Taylor, prospect to Toronto.

Great idea. And it could work if they get the $6MM from the Jays and Halladay defers some 2010 salary.

It could make sense with the idea of Amaro attempting to restock the farm system after paying way up (with what other bidders for Roy, really) in prospects to get Halladay. It would be that he's almost guilty about what he gave up for Roy and have to get Aumont, Gilles and another guy back in the Lee deal while clearing money, vs just selling Blanton

Not that I agree with this logic, just a possible explanation

Even if that is the case and this deal has morphed from a 3 team deal to 2 separate trades, why not open up bidding and attempt to get a better return for Lee than what Seattle is supposedly offering. It just doesn't make sense to me in that regard, so I am choosing not to believe it.

Exactly. If we get Halladay for our own prospects we could be playing the Angels against the Mariners against the Yankees against the Mets even for Lee if need be.

Maybe we'll switch out Drabek for Happ at the last second, plus get back Aumont and Gilles

Here's what we know: We have a hard-working, creative GM who's no idiot. He's not going to commit professional suicide. Keep the faith. He'll end up working things out just fine.

Once Halladay ext. complete Jays get RHP Kyle Drabek, OF Michael Taylor, C Travis D’Arnaud, Phils get Halladay, Aumont, $6 M, M's: Lee and ?

elliott

OK, really, if that's the deal, it's a far larger raping than the one we did for Lee. Therefore, I dont buy it.

Lee for Aumont is hilariously bad.

if this team is so fixated on the payroll, they don't tender a contract to durbin. simple as that.

also, the trade is already done, no? doesn't make sense to grant a negotiating window if the trade isn't even agreed upon yet.
